Game Star Wars Judgment Day: Part III of the Prelude to Requiem

Ic: Keldro Unmar
Meditation room,

Keldro cast a glance behind him, he knew now that they best chance of survival was the hanger, but they needed to go now. Brooke and Apollo had yet to move, perhaps the boy was frozen in fear.

Kark this is not good’ Keldro thought, he turned his body towards that of the child and with out looking at her called out over his shoulder, as he deactivated his saber.

Thala , fall back. We need to get to the hanger. The way is clear. We gain nothing from cutting these forces down. Join us… please

He broke first into a run, and then a sprint as he moved to close the distance between himself and Apollo. Keldro may have only been tasked with giving the boy a general run down of the Order. But he felt like it was his duty now to protect the boy.

Bending at the knees he swung one hand under Apollos
legs, as his other arm caught the boys head, and he straighten up.

Let's go madam, no time to waste
Keldro would speak gently to Brooke, he needed her sharp and alert. However he didn't stop, continuing his forward momentum he headed towards to doors, and closer to their freedom.

Master Durron had given in to his request, and just as fast as he did, he disappeared with a purpose. Samael followed him out the door, but lost sight of him immediately. Instead of attempting to find him, he went in search of the screams, but found the first of what would most likely be many to burn.

Somewhere nearby, a bell began to toll. Samael unclipped the cloak covering him and threw it to the side, the golden fire emblem amulet coming loose from beneath his shirt. The flames that surrounded him burned bright, crackling in a language only he seemed to understand. His lightsaber activated, its orange hue making it look like the flames grew from his arm itself.

The sight of this unholy creature reminded him of the war. “By God’s Will, you will BURN!!! YOU WILL ALL BURN!!!” Samael realized he was alone with this abomination, and for once he was grateful for that. No one could get in his way.

While ready for its attack, Samael took the initiative and threw a ball of fire at its head. His intent was to destroy those empty hollow eyes. They, like all that defiles God’s domain, will all burn.

IC: Grand Master Kei Durron
Location: Jedi Temple, Tython

Speeding through the Temple at speeds no untrained human could even perceive, the Grand Master moved faster than sound, faster than thought. As he moved through the Temple, it was if time slowed around him and he could feel the ever growing dark cloud of the invaders taking its hold over his place of sanctuary. It was unacceptable to him, and he would do his best to beat back the shadowy forces back to whatever hell they crawled out from.

Samael would no doubt be trying to burn them alive, compliments of his new god, supposedly. And Kain, though seemingly uncaring, would do everything in his power to search for his son. Kei would do the same first too, if he had offspring to take care of. In fact, the Jedi Order was his child. He was the greatest among them for a reason, and this day he would defend all he held dear.

As he continued his unparalleled swift movement, he finally came into a corridor where a group of Younglings were exiting their classroom with their instructor, Master Cadd. But what they found outside was grisly. A trio of the invading Shadow Beings were already here, their leathery forms crawling out of any and all reflective surfaces in the Temple. Grinding to a halt, the Grand Master centered himself and attempted to ease the nerves of the scared Younglings and their Master by merging his senses with theirs, allowing them to see through his eyes and hold the confidence he held.

Hoping they were not too terrified to resist, the old longbeard tore his white staff from its harness on his back and held it aloft in his right hand. Focusing his grand power in the connective energy of the Light, he made his best attempt to force a blast of Light Side energy outwards in all directions on the Shadow Beings. In a booming voice that everyone could hear, he shouted, "You have no power here, servants of the Dark! You are nameless! Faceless! Go back to the void from whence you came!"

IC: Cal Vastrom
The Howling Hawkbat, Nar Shaddaa

He’s really gone…

Cal had cleansed ‘Sho’’s mind, but there was nothing of Sho Temm left to free. This ‘Shadow Being’ truly was a shadow being. Cal had taken a gamble that Sho was still somewhere in there, and he had been wrong.

The Sith had not been so optimistic. One had thrown some sort of metallic sphere, and missed. Voidwalker had ripped the thing masquerading as Sho Temm’s arm partially off. In a rage, it swung Sho’s lightsaber wildly towards him, but missed. Cal darted back a few steps.

From behind Cal, the ‘Emperor’ of the Tapani sector was having his own problems. Strangely, Cal felt a force barrier begin to form around him. Someone wanted him alive, it seemed.

The creature was in distress, and Cal knew he had an opening to counter. He looked over at the Federation Troopers, and gave them a nod.

“Head for the exit, make sure it's secure. Don't let any of these things out. I’ll deal with our…friend here.” He ordered, and threw off his outer Jedi robe, revealing the armour covered tunic underneath. He took a step towards the shadow-being that had infested Sho Temm’s body, and held his lightsaber with both hands. Using his strength to enhance the blow, he raised his lightsaber up in the air and swung it downwards towards the shadow-being's chest with every bit of strength he could muster, utilising the ‘falling avalanche’ technique of Djem So. He figured that with one arm now dangling off, the shadow being would be unlikely to be able to stop the blow entirely.

IC Brooke
Jedi Temple, Tython

There was a flash of memory in Brooke's mind as she squeezed Apollo's hand. The hangar where he arrived, a fountain with a statue, a long hall lined with murals, a room with a pond. This very room! She barely heard Keldro's instruction as he and the other jedi began attacking the monsters that were rising from the waters, but Apollo's fearful voice rang in her ears. They had to leave and they had to leave now.

She began pulling Apollo's hand, tugging him away towards the door. Keldro sped past, and it felt like he was scooping up Apollo as well. Brooke was more than content to let him lead, as he knew this temple better. It was an unfortunate thing then, when Keldro got a bit too ahead of himself. When he attempted to scoop Apollo off of his feet to carry him, he simply hadn't processed his own motor functions quite quickly enough. His arm swept beneath Apollo's legs well enough, but he had failed to catch the boy during their sprint. Apollo smacked into the floor, the back of his head colliding with the marble. He yelped in surprised pain, looking wildly at both Brooke and the Jedi Knight as their escape came to a sudden halt.

Brooke gasped in shock when she heard the thunk of the boy's skull against the floor. She made a reproachful face at Keldro and knelt down to cradle Apollo in her arms, carrying him much more carefully. She held him tight to her chest and began sprinting towards the hangar. It's going to be ok. Her thoughts were mostly for her, but between her established bond with Keldro, and her responsibility to Apollo she ended up broadcasting to the both of them. We're going to make it out of here. We have to.

Catalyst’s ire was not lost on Volacius, who scowled as his compatriot spoke. While Catalyst was wrong about the accuracy of the attack, the emerald barrage had only cleared some of the terrain in the area. Nevertheless, his turbolasers had at least determined that Nephthys was too far underground to be affected by any orbital bombardment. “Deploy fighter squadrons,” he snapped at Commander Verton. “And get an expeditionary force down there to secure a landing site.”

With orders given, Volacius turned back to the bridge comms terminal, and to what was sure to be an unpleasant conversation. “You are a former Dark Councillor, and she is a survivor of Typhojem’s onslaught,” Volacius sneered through gritted teeth. “If your powers have waned such that you aren’t capable of defending against mere turbolaser fire, you should have at least demonstrated the clairvoyance to vacate the area beforehand.” Suddenly, Volacius’ tone fell deadly serious. “Linguistics may be your domain, Catalyst, but warfare is mine,” he declared with bile of his own. “Nephthys wishes to bring about a second True Sith War. We barely withstood the first, and there is little I would not sacrifice to thwart a renewed True Sith invasion. So next time you decide to drop yourself onto an enemy world, use that ‘Lord of Linguistics’ title of yours and communicate with your allies.”

Volacius breathed out a harsh sigh, as he turned to proceed to the hangar deck. “I’ll see you and Lord Nathemus shortly.”

IMG_5525.JPGThe question touched her mind, but was only met with a cacophony of phantasmic noise, like a dozen voices arguing. Yet a cold, rasping, deeply satisfied laughter pierced through it all, and every other voice conjoined it in swirling overlap. And Khatt herself laughed, for the first time.

One would think that tricks this cheap would eventually go out of circulation. They grow so boring.
One would think that tricks this cheap would eventually go out of circulation. They grow so boring.

Why would one do something so obvious?
That which costs little is easy to find. But its simple nature makes it easy to discern.

IMG_6184.JPGShe already had her answers. This thing had given her perhaps the easiest test it could. This sickly emerald apparition had no hope of measuring up to the all-encompassing fractured radiance of her fractured Lord of Life. No such appearance was necessary; He was already here, His arms and wings surrounding her. There were so, so many of them. It made sense after all, everything and everyone was Him. Layers of wings and hands, skeletal and leathery and feathered, a soft layer of crystalline reflections showing a glimpse of all that He was.

O beloved sister companion. This creature will become… part of us.’ But Khatt could hear the pause. As if he was fatigued. As if he was hesitating. But of course he would never.
O Shentha, my dearest host, our Overlord’s will shall be done.
O Guardian,’ she now proclaimed, her voice now thundering, a command of complete conviction.
Do not invoke the ire of the Salvation. For His is the power of all things. Stand aside now, for your own sake!

The guard she killed went down without a fight, it's host fleeing with hardly a glance back. This, apparently, was fortuitous because the other shadow being she saw as she guarded the rear was doing something horrid-looking to Huskac.

The guard exploded before anything could happen, in red which suggested that he had been a poor fool trying to just get out. Pity. Her hand went to her hip, pulling out her saber and lighting it. No one had directly gone for them yet, but it was only a matter of time, and Makaria was not in the habit of wasting time.

She used her own power to grasp at the doors, hoping that whoever had held them shut was too distracted to fight her about it. Mentally, she pushed, hoping to throw them open and let them out.

There wasn't too much to think about; the leading part of the squad started moving, and she could only hope they wouldn’t start dying too quickly. Or at least she prays there would be some of them good at screaming; a decent pair of lungs was always useful for the ones at the back. It would give them more time to start to run.

All clear” A trooper said. That only meant that whatever waiting was contained forward on the corridor, or even worse and force forbade, they were running head first into a trap; but kriff it all, that was inevitably the most probable scenario.

‘Well, let’s get this over quickly.’ Zareel thought to herself, moving slowly behind the first squad. While igniting her saber, she relished in the familiar purple light it emitted; much better than the unease she was starting to feel as she tried to feed from the force, it was like the first drags of a badly laced cigarra she had once. It would be better to stop with that for the moment and rely on her own strength, at least until knowing for sure what was going on.

Her head turned slightly to Mavros as they walked slowly, her eyes scanning the area as they continued to move. She reached out with her senses, trying to get a feel of anything surrounding them. Could there be something suppressing the force here? Could it be Ysalamir? Or something else?

“You’d think Lord Vaer would have learned by now, kissing up will get him nowhere in the Order,” She commented, though she didn’t really expect a response to it. She sighed, and took a look around at the others before she continued speaking.

“I’m quite suspicious of Lord Kain’s cause. I don’t know if you’ve heard about it all, but I don’t know if I believe his intentions to be pure. He came to my home a few weeks ago, and he was…”

She paused, her mind flashing back to that damned day. All of it was bad. The spell, the aftermath. The stare from the True Sith…

The spear missed its target, the end of the spear sticking into the wooden floor past its target. Voxyn swore and charged lightning in his hand to throw at the Keldor, but before he could, the fake Sho’s arm nearly ripped clean off, and it began to attack the Jedi Master. With that arm damaged and judging by its less-than-impressive attack on Vastrom, the Jedi Master could probably handle the creature from there. Looking around, he found a Shadow Being now freed from its disguise laying Huskac’s guards low and attacking him.

He took a step forward, electrically chagrin the air around him to shield himself in lightning, he wasn’t sure what all this thing could do if all he succeeded in doing was pissing it off, and he wanted to be ready for that situation. Then, lightning cracking between his fingers, he pointed his hand at the creature to send the white and silver bolts flying toward it.

Mavros began to move up the corridor as the troopers gave the all clear message, though he positioned himself behind Lady Kolasi and Zareel as he sensed the coming danger, and because of Kolasi's words of warning. The obscuration of his own visions now made sense, and he didn't like it one bit. He followed their lead and ignited his own lightsaber with a heavy hiss, the crimson red light mingling with the purple of Zareel’s. He looked around for the other Sith Lord, the one that came from Arkania, but if he was coming with them, he was lagging behind.

Not like Xarxes to employ a layabout…but then again, he did take *Vaer* as an apprentice…so maybe his sense of judgement was lost with his eye. Or maybe its old age.

“You’d think Lord Vaer would have learned by now, kissing up will get him nowhere in the Order,” Lady Kolasi opined, and Mavros chuckled.

“Oh, I don’t know…given the fact we’re walking straight into this deathtrap and not sitting comfortably on our ships enjoying a glass of something alcoholic whilst watching this thing explode, I wouldn’t say he’s intellectually gifted enough to advance any other way. I only suggested splitting up because he’d probably kriff this mission up worse than Nysis if he was leading the whole group.” Mavros replied, shaking his head.

“I’m quite suspicious of Lord Kain’s cause. I don’t know if you’ve heard about it all, but I don’t know if I believe his intentions to be pure. He came to my home a few weeks ago, and he was…Erratic. Reckless.” Lady Kolasi continued.

“The timing is rather beautiful, isn’t it? The moment he comes back from the dead at the head of an army of loyal fanatics, suddenly there’s a threat larger than Typhojem on the horizon and only he knows what’s truly coming. I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s all a ruse.” Mavros replied, eyes scanning ahead as they moved forwards.

“An erratic and reckless planet killer isn’t exactly what the Galaxy needs right now. Maybe it would be better if we just took him off the board before he enacts whatever scheme he has planned. Even if it does mean working with…Jedi.” Mavros continued, almost unable to say that last word without vomiting. "Still...this ship...how does it tie into all this? Makes no bloody sense...though I suppose the only way to find out is to press on...wonderful..." He thought out loud, without even actually realising what he had done.

"Oh, sorry. My mind works rather fast. I'm the opposite of Lord Vaer." He added as an explanation.

IC: Voidwalker, Cursed Champion of the Stars
The Howling Hawkbat, Nar Shaddaa

Voidwalker had been mildly successful in his attempt to help the Jedi delegate. The shadow being that wore Sho Temm like a cheap suit wildly swung his lightsaber at the Jedi Master, yet with one arm barely hanging on by threads of tendons and muscle, the risk of Vastrom being killed was diminishing. The wild swinging slash completely missed Vastrom, and he seemed ready to strike back. That was one potential crisis averted.

Voidwalker's line of sight just happened to cross the path to see a guard fire his rifle aimed at Avery, only for the shot to bounce off a protective wall that covered him. He snapped his head to the side to see that Pandora had put up protective barriers around the more important delegates. That was another sign of relief and now Voidwalker felt like he could let loose. He was a fighter, not a diplomat. While he had created the distraction the Jedi Master had needed, Voidwalker had still been hesitant in getting involved, but now it seemed he didn't have to worry about such with Pandora's barriers.

And here I thought this was going to be a boring night in.

Blood continued to be spilled, green and red blood splattering across the room and its inhabitants. Yet it seemed as if not everyone was having a good time. Both Hesper's group and the Onderonian's were making for the door as a means of escape. If the shadow beings escaped out past the Hawkbat then there was no telling what could happen. It could cause mass panic and lead to even more death and a galaxy at war. Which was the opposite of what Kain had wanted. The shadow beings had to be stopped here and now. They all had to stand their ground and face the enemy head on.

Voidwalker quickly thought of a way to take out as many potential threats at one time, without exerting himself too much. He could only hope it was enough. Just as Huscak had done with the guards, Voidwalker applied pressure to the wooden table in the center of the room, willing it to explode into as many little pieces as possible and shoot outwards all across the room. His hope was to cover as much area as possible and manage to eliminate or hurt as many threats as he could.

All for the greater good, by any means necessary.

His flames hadn't effected the things advancing, this was not good. His pushing had helped however and they had gotten out of the med center. Good. Now they had decisions to make.

Others in the facility were running seemingly aimlessly he wouldn't follow.

"Mihi, let's attempt to get to a ship and off this rock."

He exclaimed with a certain urgency to get his point across with little room for guessing. He turned towards the docks and started urging her forward. He had enough faith in Sharkish'Ki to make it there on his own. They however would be better served to stick together.

He started sprinting towards the ships. Mardinga knew she could keep up with him so he didn't need to look back.

If they run into more creatures he planned to use his lightsaber and continue to run. Yes, the apprentice was well aware that life hardly ever followed plans. Still he aimed to get off the planet.

GM UPDATE

IC: Eva
The Jungle, Verdanth

The Sith troopers, clad in their armor, moved with ruthless precision. Their disciplined ranks pressed forward, beginning to secure a landing zone on the edge of the newly-made crater. The air crackled with palpable energy as the troopers formed a defensive perimeter, eyes ever watchful for hidden threats lurking amidst the dense foliage.

Fighter craft soared overhead, their menacing silhouettes splitting the skies as they prowled like birds of prey. The low hum of their engines resonated through the dense jungle, forcing the surviving wildlife to scurry in terror, hiding in their burrows and dens.

Upon finding that the Jedi starfighter that Grandmaster Kei Durron had been kind enough to lend her was sitting beneath rubble from the bombardment, Eva and Catalyst began to make their way toward the landing zone that the troopers had been securing. Though cautious of Eva, the soldiers gave no flack to Lord Catalyst as the pair arrived, just seconds before the shuttles of Lord Nathemus and Lord Volacius began to land. They’d notice that barricades had begun being assembled, with mounted turrets being placed just behind.

The search for an entrance into Nephthys’ lair had begun.

Sith Temple Courtyard, Pyxis

DeanSpencer-spotcol-zombieknight.jpg

The Sith Master watched as the apprentice pressed the assault on the undead. His form was a little sloppy, but his swing with the lightsaber struck true, burying into the zombie's chest. A push of kinetic energy followed, meager but enough to make some distance between him and the creatures. That was the window that Kento needed.

He always knew that his lightning was far more powerful when focused into a single bolt that could spread between targets at a whim. And thus, he displayed that here, golden arcs exploding from his outstretched hand and zooming through the air, creating the terrifying odor of burnt ozone. The first zombie, the one already struck by both Sith within the past few moments, disintegrated to ash as the overwhelming power of Kento’s hatred charred its wilted flesh to nothing. And then the lightning leaped, striking its newly risen compatriot and sending the zombie flying backward. The blow would have destroyed any average member of the undead, but Damian knew how these foul magicks worked. The creature still moved, stumbling to its feet. And worse yet, another of the zombies was beginning to crawl out of the blackened puddle.

“The water!” Damian exclaimed. “You must get rid of the water!”

Meanwhile, Mardinga had taken the lead between him and Mihi, guiding her toward the hangar bay of the Sith Temple. It was not the direct escape route that the Empress had installed, with secret tunnels within the walls leading to a more well-hidden, emergency hangar further up the mountain, but it was a simple enough notion.

They passed through the halls, none of which had been polished enough to worry about, and made their way to the main hangar. But this place… no, this was not a good place. The undead were bunched up in droves here, dozens at least, coming from the various reflective surfaces on both the ships and within the hangar itself. There were a few others here, some apprentices and a knight, that had decided to try their luck this way rather than follow the standard escape plan. They were beginning to be torn apart.

And if Mihi and Mardinga didn’t act fast, they were going to follow suit. There were three ships here in the main hangar. One was a starfighter, small and fast, but it was surrounded by a group of six undead, all of which were beginning to overwhelm that aforementioned knight. There was a shuttle about a dozen meters away, where two apprentices were making a stand against a horde of the zombies. And the final ship was a freighter, large enough to carry at least twenty survivors, but also enveloped by a massive horde of the undead.

Finally, he Force Pushes the zombie back into the one that’s just spawned, rolling 16 + 7 + 2, also succeeding. An Effect Modifier of 4 only makes it stumble back a bit.

Damian’s usage of Chain Lightning rolls 19 + 15 + 5, succeeding. 4d6 are rolled for Shock Damage, rolling 5 + 4 + 5 + 6. Both zombies have their HP reduced to 0, with one being disintegrated and the other still moving!

IC: Kain, the Beloved King of the Stars

The Mindscapes of the Gatekeeper

The quiet rage of Darth Drakul Xarxes was not lost on the Gatekeeper, as it took the form of his darling wife. She let out one of the chuckles he had heard so many times before, the kind he’d recognize from when he had said or done something she had found amusing, despite his intention being far from it.

“You are a slave to your emotions,” she said. “Despite all your strength, of body and of mind, your spirit I find lacking.” Her ghostly pale hand brushed his cheek. “You may have been able to brute force your way past me before. But I am nothing if not adaptable, Xarxes. And if you ally yourself with the Spawn of Vanity, you are not worthy of my aid.”

With that, a blast of energy struck Xarxes in the chest, sending him careening backward with the impact. He found no wall to smack against in this vast darkness, just a floor. But the impact itself was enough to send shockwaves of agony through his entire body.

Meanwhile, the Shade of her God bared no emotion as it looked down upon Khatt. Her threats were for naught.

“It is the salvation he has provided you that has taken everything from you,” he said. His voice sounded exactly as the one that spoke to her in her heart. A hand outstretched from the false Khattazz al’Yun’o, and despite the pain these visions caused, there was an underlying sense that what she saw was true. The twisted, broken form of him… wait no, not him. His twin brother. The one that he had been raised alongside. The one that had been there through every step of his childhood. The one that was there when the Avatar of the Gods arrived. The one that disappeared after the Avatar’s mercy.

“He has been lying to you.” The words cut through Khatt’s mind like a dagger, burying into the folds of her brain with ruthless cruelty. “You worship the one that has taken everything from you.”

And beyond the mindscapes of Xarxes and Khatt, Kain was locked in a void of his own with the woman he loved most in this universe. It was not a pleasant interaction.

“She survived,” Kain snarled. “I brought her into the Pool, I watched as she--”

“You brought her corpse into the Pool,”
she corrected. “And she came out the same as she went in. Knowledge is lost on the dead. It is a wonder that the corrupted waters even allowed you a fraction of its stores.”

Kain shook his head. “No. No, that is a lie.”

“I have no need to lie.”

“Liar!” Kain’s hands unleashed a torrent of white-hot flame, filling the darkened void with a light bright enough to completely burn away the image of Abaddon from his mind, if only for a moment. But then his raging flames ceased, and he found that she still stood there. But she was different, worse. Her skin was charred black and cracking. Her hair had been completely disintegrated. Her eyes were bloodshot yet lifeless. And yet she still stood.

“This is what will happen to all you love, Seed of Chaos,” she said. “Your love for mortalkind makes you weak. How can you hope to be a god when you cannot even save the ones you love?”

The Gatekeeper twisted her hands, hoping to begin filling Kain’s phantasmic form with pure, unadulterated agony. But Kain stood there, enraged, his form filled with nothing but hatred.

“I… did… save her,” he answered through gritted teeth.

“You dance with a ghost, Kain. Her corpse is still lying next to you on Vitae, where you fight against the coming of the tide in vain.”

The Shade of Ānhrā’s Telepathy rolls 15 + 19 + 5, exceeding Khatt’s DC and succeeding. An Effect Modifier of 16 + 6 allows the mental images that the Gatekeeper is projecting to be done so clearly.

The Shade of Ānhrā’s simultaneous use of Mind Shard rolls 19 + 19 + 5, also succeeding. 4d6 are rolled for Psychic Damage, rolling 4 + 1 + 3 + 2. Khatt’s HP is reduced to 28.

Kain’s use of Pyrokinesis rolls 18 + 25 + 10, passing the Shade of Abaddon’s DC. 5d8 are rolled for Heat Damage, rolling 2 + 6 + 6 + 5 + 1. The Shade of Abaddon’s HP is reduced to 30.

The Shade of Abaddon’s use of Inflict Pain rolls an 11 + 25 + 10, failing to pass Kain’s DC. It fails to take effect.

IC: Sergeant Luceno

Eastern Hallway, The Tsushima

ba8d7e92879346359cdbcc57edb28383--darth-vader-armor-star-wars-stormtrooper.jpgThe sergeant was the most senior of the troopers here, taking command of this half of the platoon. He was a fair soldier, and a good one. He’d let no harm come to the Sith in his protection, that he was certain of. Anything that was this ship would have to get through him first.

Much like Lord Eschaton, the sergeant and the rest of the troopers remained silent at the words of Lady Kolasi and Lord Mavros. Luceno had heard of Kain, but had only joined the Sith’s army toward the end of the True Sith War. All Kain was to him was the story of a martyr, and now that story was marred by Kain’s survival. Lord Vaer, on the other hand, Luceno knew well enough to stay clear of when he could. He did not want to risk being interesting to the Dark Lord, out of fear of his memories being stolen because of it.

The hall here was lit quite like the last one, though none of the fixtures here were dangling from the ceiling. Instead, a few of the lights flickered, giving a strobing view of the corridor. There was another door at the end of the hall, unlocked if the green holographic indicator spoke true. However, there was a door to the left as well, with a sign above reading as a storage room. It was locked with Level 3 Clearance.

“My lady,” said the soldier. He took his helmet off, revealing the face of a man in his thirties. Rugged, scarred, but handsome in his own way. His gray eyes glimmered in the flickering light. “Did we want to bust into the storage room or press forward?”

Western Hallway, The Tsushima

Picsart_23-06-21_01-10-22-283.jpg

Even among the rabble, Vaer could overhear Arach’s whispers of something moving in the vents. Perhaps she was simply trying to speak quietly to avoid the ire of whatever she sensed, but the paranoia that lingered in Vaer’s mind made him wary of her connection to Vitani. This was not helped when Arach continued to murmur to herself, whispering an incantation. He quickly recognized it as the ritual for summoning a smoke demon. Instinct made him want to stop her from potentially summoning a creature that could kill them all, but experience made him stay his tongue. Were he to interrupt her, that would turn the possibility of her demon turning on them into a certainty.

And so the creature began to take shape in the darkness of this corridor, forming to her will. She simply needed to continue her incantation, to continue the ritual. Then it could become hers. Or perhaps not.

Meanwhile, Vitani had ignited her own saber to cast a crimson glow in the hall, clashing with the blue of Vaer’s. The past began to seep into her mind, images from the perspective of the wall she now dragged her fingers along. People rushing through here to get to the hangar. The sense of panic and fear that hung in the air. The smell of blood. The sight of a man being dragged through the door at the other end of the hall.

One would only need the light of their sabers to see the blood that now stained the floor, a trail that led through the door at the end of the hall. It was unlocked, though closed. A wave of Vaer’s hand changed that. It opened, revealing a flight lounge that would have once been bustling with beings, no doubt. Now, it was scattered and empty. Broken datapads sat in bloodied, empty seats in the center, along with bags long since ransacked.

The power was on in here, with a flight log holographically displayed on the ceiling. The last destination marked was for the Anaxes system, though they were supposed to have arrived there a little over a week ago. Why were they here now?

A counter was the only thing preventing them from investigating the terminals on the other side. Perhaps they could find logs from the crew, or even a damage report for the ship.

OOC: Arach’s first stage of casting Dwomutsiqsa rolls a 15 + 21 + 10, successfully summoning the Smoke Demon. Arach will need to continue the spell into her next turn, which will then be rolled for to determine her amount of control over it.

Vitani’s use of Psychometry on the wall rolls 3 + 17 + 5, succeeding. An Effect Modifier of 17 - 1 allows her to get a brief history of this particular hallway.

IC: Pandora

The Howling Hawkbat, Nar Shaddaa

Madness reigns.

The Onderonian Guards unleashed blasterfire, but none could find their slippery targets. Their King proved far more successful in his endeavor, however, as he buried his lightsaber into the ribcage of the nearest man that’d drawn his weapon against the rest of the room. Green, cauterized organs did not provide the most pleasant of aromas, but that was what filled Avery’s nostrils now as the guard he struck turned its manic gaze toward him. Nearly cut in half, the thing fired its blaster at the King once again, perhaps hoping that at point-blank it would prove more successful. But the bolt bounced off the shimmering barrier once more. The creature wailed in rage.

Cal attempted an overhead slash into the beast that had taken hold of Sho Temm, but found that whatever knowledge it had stolen from the Battlemaster rang true even in death. The blow was deflected by Sho’s saber, which then swept around to perform a thrust into Cal’s chest. Instead, the plasma blade skittered across the barrier that surrounded the Jedi Master, giving Vastrom an opening to counter. Meanwhile, the soldiers charged with the Jedi’s safety followed Cal’s orders, moving toward the doors.

Voxyn’s supercharged his surroundings with powerful lightning, hoping to shield himself from any imminent danger that could come from what he was attempting next. That lightning flowed through his outstretched hand, hoping to envelop the Shadow Being with mighty sparks. But that did not seem to do the trick, and as Huskac scrambled away onto the table and created a protective shield across both him and the entirety of the table, the Shadow Being turned its attention toward the meddlesome blonde Lord. It unleashed a powerful blast of Force energy, sending Voxyn soaring backward. His lightning shield did nothing to protect him from the might of the Shadow Being, and his own armor seemed to bang him up even worse than he would have been if he’d worn simple robes. Another hit like that and he wouldn’t survive. He either needed to escape, or perhaps he needed to convince the most powerful woman in the room to help.

Instead, Hesper watched on as Lady Makaria began to slowly pull the doors open with her telekinetic might. The door was halfway open, but it appeared that it would be a continued struggle to pull it open fully, and letting go now risked it closing back shut. Persistence could be the key.

But as all of this occurred, Voidwalker enacted one of the more insane plans he had ever concocted. His attempt to destroy the table with his telekinesis seemed to backfire, as he slid backward like someone had just punched him in the gut. But his follow-up to make the pieces of the table to explode outward like shrapnel, instead, applied to the objects sitting on the table, save of course for Lord Huskac who had luckily been at the eye of the incoming storm. Goblets, and even the severed head of the noble Pandora had killed were sent flying like a grenade had gone off.

The head struck Voidwalker in his chest, exploding in a flash of green viscera as the skull shattered and Voidwalker’s chest caved in, his ribs cracking in sheer torture. The goblets, meanwhile, smacked into the likes of Derrik, a couple of the Federation troopers, one of Hesper’s guards and another of her Priestesses, and other guards that had accompanied their nobles to this summit. The true targets of Voidwalker’s attack, the Shadow Beings, also suffered. Four of their number dropped dead as goblet-shaped shrapnel pierced through the mortal vessels, and half of them escaped into that same void in the ceiling as the others. But two of them remained, their faceless forms scanning for new targets to destroy in the name of their blighted Father. And, quite unfortunate, was the death of one of Avery’s beastrider guardsmen, who fell to the floor dead, cracked metal sticking out of his skull.

OOC: Avery’s guards unload their blasters on the nearby revealed Shadowed Guards. They roll a nat 1, missing their shots.

Avery himself then unleashes a Djem-So slash on the Shadowed guard nearest him, rolling a 16 + 11 + 5, succeeding. 3d10 are rolled for Plasma Damage, rolling 4 + 3 + 9. The Shadowed Guard’s HP is reduced to 4.

That Shadowed Guard retaliates with a round of blasterfire, rolling a 10 + 10 + 5, failing to overcome Avery’s DC with the barrier. A bolt once again bounces off the barrier.

Makaria’s usage of Telekinesis rolls an 18 + 16 + 5, succeeding. An Effect Modifier of 7 + 1 begins to pull it open, with it being halfway open before the next turn begins. Makaria will need to continue her usage of Telekinesis to succeed in opening it fully.

Cal’s Djem So swing on Shadowed Sho rolls 5 + 18 + 5, totaling 28 and failing to overcome Sho’s DC. His attack is blocked.

Shadowed Sho tries to counter with a Makashi thrust, rolling 3 + 21 + 10. It fails to get past the barrier surrounding Cal.

Huskac’s usage of Art of Movement rolls a 3 + 21 + 10, succeeding. An Effect Modifier of 18 allows him to get onto the table fine.

His use of Protection Bubble rolls 17 + 21 + 10, allowing him to successfully create the bubble. An Effect Modifier of 25 + 10 makes the bubble cover the entirety of the table. This will increase his DC by 10 until he drops the bubble.

Voxyn’s Lightning Shield rolls 12 + 18 + 5, succeeding. An Effect Modifier of 11 + 8 increases his DC by 5 until he drops the shield.

His Sith Lightning then rolls 15 + 18 + 5, failing to pass the Shadow Being’s DC. It fails to hit.

The Shadow Being that Voxyn attacked retaliates with a Force Blast, rolling 17 + 20 + 10 and succeeding. 5d6 are rolled for Blunt Damage, and unfortunately, Voxyn’s armor is listed as having a 25% susceptibility to Blunt Damage. It rolls 3 + 5 + 4 + 2 + 2, and with an additional 4 damage, Voxyn’s HP is reduced to 15.

Voidwalker’s attempt at using Telekinesis to destroy the table rolls a nat 1, failing. This inexplicable failure will result in him being blasted backward for 1d4 of Blunt Damage. It only rolls a 1, knocking his HP down to 40.

His Ballistakinesis, since the table is still intact, will only apply to the arbitrated items on the table. It rolls a natural 20, succeeding. This will apply to goblets of drink on the table, as well as the head of the first Shadow Being that was torn off. I will arbitrate this as fifteen objects in total, each being sent out in random directions. For 5d6 of blunt damage, this rolls 3 + 2 + 4 + 5 + 6. This affects the following characters:
Voidwalker - reducing his HP to 20
Derrik - reducing his HP to 5
Priestess - reducing her HP to 5
Hesperian Guard - reducing his HP to 10
Fed Trooper - reducing his HP to 5
Fed Trooper - reducing her HP to 5
Real Guard - reducing his HP to 0. He is dead.
Real Guard - reducing her HP to 0. She is dead.
Real Guard - reducing his HP to 0. He is dead.
Real Guard - reducing her HP to 0. She is dead.
Injured (by the Hasturan Guard) Shadowed Guard - reducing its HP to 0. A coin flip determines that the Shadow Being escapes rather than retaliates.
Shadowed Guard - reducing its HP to 0. A coin flip determines that the Shadow Being remains so it may retaliate.
Shadowed Guard - reducing its HP to 0. A coin flip determines that the Shadow Being escapes rather than retaliates.
Shadowed Guard - reducing its HP to 0. A coin flip determines that the Shadow Being remains so it may retaliate.

Onderonian Guard - reducing his HP to 0. He is dead.

IC: Kain, the Beloved King of the Stars and Apollo

The Jedi Temple, Tython

The zealous fury of Samael the Lightbringer was unforgiving, the flames that he formed into a ball passing through the head of the undead like the flesh had never been there in the first place. Its skin, its skull, its eyes and brain, even the teeth were turned to ash in the span of a second. The flames smacked into the nearby wall, slowly beginning to spread across the paint that covered it.

But even the rage of a zealot was not enough to stop something this unnatural.

Headless, the creature still moved forward, arms outstretched. Its aim was unnaturally direct for Samael, despite its lack of eyes to see with or ears to hear with. And as it advanced forward, another of its kind was beginning to claw its way out of the blackened flooring. If the Lightbringer wished to burn his enemies to dust, he would realize that focused flames would do him no good. There could be nothing left for the True Sith to control, no bits or pieces to string along like marionettes.

They must all burn, and they must burn all the way.

As Samael battled his foes in the corridor, the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order was saving it. The younglings and Master Cadd felt Durron’s inner peace and surety of their victory, as was his will. The little ones no longer feared the undead, knowing that they would be pushed back by the heroes of the Jedi Order. Master Cadd stood firm, the Duros steadying his saber and readying to bring it down upon those that threatened him and his students. But there was no need, for as the mighty words of Kei Durron rained down upon the zombies, so too did a mighty light fall upon them. Any evil that lurked in this room evaporated immediately, the creatures falling limp as the source of their dark power was washed away. Even the mirror that they had spawned from turned from its inky black to its regular, reflective self.

These Jedi were safe, but there would be others that’d need the aid of their leader. More classrooms to clear, more chambers, more corridors. Every single entry point of the undead would need to be cleansed. A tall task, but one that he was not alone on any longer.

“I’m with you, Master Durron,” said Cadd with a nod. “Children, lock yourselves inside this room. Answer the door for no one but us.”

And as the younglings scrambled inside the room, another child was running for their own life. Or, more accurately, he was being carried as his caretakers ran for theirs. Apollo was not feeling well after his tumble to the floor, though he held no ill will toward Keldro for the mistake. Every time he’d ever gotten upset or excited, something would often explode or something else, and he was taught that those were what mistakes were. Accidents. Nobody’s fault. He wouldn’t dare hold such a thing against someone else.

The words of Brooke barely registered in Keldro’s mind, and not at all in Apollo or Thala’s—who had accompanied them at Keldro’s behest—as neither of them were bonded with her. But her feelings passed along all the same. Feelings of hope amongst all this terror and despair.

They ran past the hall of murals, not caring to stay and admire the beautiful artwork that had been spread across the walls. But then they came to the fountain, the one with the owl that Brooke had seen in Apollo’s past. To those with eyes, this looked nothing like the place of peace they’d known before. To Brooke, this felt like she was standing before a gate to Hell.

Fallen Jedi, both old and young, were strewn about in pieces. Blood soaked the floors and walls and the undead that were now feasting on the dead’s flesh. And as the footsteps of the survivors skittered to a stop, the soulless eyes of the zombies turned away from their meals, and toward their next. There were a dozen of them at least, with others beginning to crawl out of the black waters of the fountain. These were too many for them to handle, especially with Apollo still struggling to stay awake after his fall. They would have to turn and run, but to where? There was nowhere else to go but the hangars.

KainArt01.jpgYet before they were forced to decide, a dark miracle occurred.

Fire burst from the floor beneath each of the undead and even from within the fountain. Flames so hot that standing as close as they were felt like standing before a star. The undead had no chance, their flesh and bones turning to ash and dust in the blink of an eye. Even the water of the fountain, once tainted with the power of the dark side, was evaporated in an instant. A cloud of steam began to spread across the room, covering the blood-spattered, corpse-littered area with an eerie, uncomfortable fog.

Brooke would have sensed him at the same time as Apollo, with the pair of Jedi close behind. He was standing behind them, at the end of the hall they’d just turned from. He walked, nonchalantly, letting out a breath that could be interpreted as an expression of both relief and annoyance.

“Where do you think you’re taking my son, Brooke?” asked the Beloved King of the Stars.

OOC: Brooke’s Telepathy rolls a 4 + 10 + 5, totaling 19 and succeeding. An Effect Modifier of 10 - 4 makes the message vague, really just her feelings more than actual words, for Apollo. Keldro understands it a bit better thanks to their Bond.

Samael’s Pyrokinesis rolls a natural 20, automatically succeeding. He will roll 3d8 for Heat Damage, rolling 6 + 7 + 7. The zombie’s HP drops to 0, its head completely burned away, but its body is still moving!

Kei Durron’s attempt to Merge Senses with the younglings and Master Cadd rolls 3 + 24 + 10 + 3, succeeding. An Effect Modifier of 21 - 4 allows those affected to become far more sure of their victory over the undead.

His usage of Force Light then once again rolls 3 + 24 + 10 + 3, succeeding. 5d6 are rolled for Light Damage, with a 50% bonus due to Sith Zombies’ weakness to Light Damage. It rolls 3 + 3 + 1 + 4 + 5, with an additional +8, totaling 24. The three zombies have their HP reduced to 0, and as Force Light has cut them off from their power source, they remain still.

Kain’s Pyrokinesis rolls a 19 + 25 + 10, succeeding. 5d8 are rolled for Heat Damage, rolling 5 + 5 + 6 + 6 + 6. All of the affected zombies have their HP reduced to 0, and they disintegrated. I will also arbitrate it as being enough to evaporate the water in the fountain.

IC Brooke
Jedi temple, Tython

There was nothing to do but run.

Brooke held Apollo close as she sprinted through the halls, guided by the memories of the boy. All around them, spirits of darkness spilled from the walls, the floors, the ceilings, anywhere they could find ingress. She pressed on, knowing that stopping could make the difference between being trapped and making it out of this place.

The fountains that Apollo recollected were nothing like his memory. Darkness and evil surrounded them on all sides, nearly obscuring Brooke's innate sight with its intensity. Death surrounded them, and they had little choice but to keep running.

As Brooke was pushing herself to continue, fire burst from the floor, filling the room with the scent of charred flesh and scorched blood. All at once, the undead were purged from the fountains, and the room became eerily still. That stillness gripped Brooke as the hairs on the back of her neck twitched. Someone was coming, a presence Brooke had felt earlier.

“Where do you think you’re taking my son, Brooke?”

The Beloved King of the Stars spoke in a harsh, commanding tone, but Brooke could still sense the man she knew underneath. The noble, scared, and ultimately selfless man that had saved her life before, now was here to save them all. She turned to face him, cradling Apollo in her arms. "We're going somewhere safe," she spoke with a tone that stood somewhere between serenity and defiance. "Somewhere these monsters aren't." She didn't have an exact place in mind, but she took her duty to protect Apollo seriously and was certain that in this moment, he would not be safe as long as they were in this temple.

IC Catalyst
Verdanth

Catalyst seethed in rage while contemplating how to respond to Volacius. Accidentally firing on his location would have been excusable if Catalyst had been as stealthy as he could, but Catalyst had left explicit coordinates where he would be starting his search. He had told them where and why he was coming down, and yet for all of his military brilliance Volacius had still deigned it appropriate to open fire on multiple allies that were of significant importance to Kain. If it hadn't been for Eva's quick thinking, the two of them would have likely been lost to the barrage.

Dropships and troop carriers began landing before Eva could lead Catalyst to her ship. Masses of armored troops soon filled the area of destruction that Volacius had cleared away. Well, I supposed if Nephthys didn't know we were here before, this is one way to ensure it. When they finally saw Eva's ship, naturally it was in an unusable state from the events minutes prior. Catalyst growled in frustration as he kicked at the debris covering the jedi starfighter. Fighters and bombers screeched overhead, and he genuinely considered ordering one to the ground so they could hijack it, but he soon had a better idea.

It wasn't long before shuttles descended to the ground carrying the only people Nephthys was going to care about. Catalyst put his arm around Eva's shoulder and muttered to her, "If you were worried about me being blinded by Kain, these two are the ones you should really be concerned about. Follow my lead if you want to leave." He flashed a large, forced smile at Volacius and Nathemus as he approached. "Welcome to Verdanth, my friends. You just missed the scouting party, but I'm sure your boys in white can watch your backs for the predatory beasties in this here jungle." He swept a hand towards the emplacements that were being constructed, before settling his attention back to Eva. "As you can see, I have found Kain's daughter, and I believe it is in our best interest to keep her safe from the True Sith. What would Kain say if we let his daughter get hurt or killed by the foe he gave his very life to defeat?"

Jedi Temple- Tython

Keldros muscles twitched with adrenaline, yet still he focused his mind opening up his connection to the force. Unsure of what they may face, Keldro wanted to be prepared.
They were making steady progress, The hanger wasn’t much further away. Keldro was positive he could pilot them away from this, all he needed was a ship.

The rag tag group skittered around a corner and came to a stop, the way was blocked. Sorrow filled the Jedi knight as he gazed upon the scene of his fallen comrades. He reached out, having stayed close to Brooke and the boy and attempted to heal Apollo. Resigned that one of their number would need to hold these beast back while they made their escape.

However before he could leap into action, each zombie was engulfed in flames. It burned so hot Keldro resorted to turning his head away and shielding his face. When he turned back they stood alone. Ashen remains scattering the hall, now filled with steam from the dried up fountain.

A commanding voice, harsh and unyielding, spoke out to them. But it wasn’t directed at him.
“Where do you think you’re taking my son, Brooke?”

Brooke replied , her defiance showing how far she would go to protect Apollo.
Keldro knew if they were going to get out of this they would need every advantage they had. Already aware of her feelings. Keldro tried to widen that bond, to see as she saw. To feel as she felt, and in doing so open her up to what he felt and saw.

In a voice barely above a whisper, Keldro sort her wisdom.

“What do you need me to do, how can we get you and the boy away.?”
