IC: High Priestess Hesper
Lothal
Pastoral grasses and windswept hills stretched for as far as the eye could see; it was a bright day, though the sun shone from behind a thick veil of dismally grey clouds. This was the planet Lothal, a favorite of Lady Hesper's, a place where she had built a sacred temple, a shrine for meditation and study, a place to feel the abyssal thrall of the dark side swirl so dangerously about oneself. She had arranged for Kint to meet her here, at Temple Eventide-- so the temple she had built was called. It was a fantastically grand building crafted of intricately carved white stones, boasting soaring domed roofs and a behemoth pyramid jutting from the center of the cathedral.

Lady Hesper waited for her new apprentice's shuttle to arrive, standing in the tall grasses a klick or so outside the temple. Her simple black raiment whipped about her ankles in the westerly wind that was blowing, and she held a hand above her eyes to block out the sun as she peered skyward.

Ah, there he was: a simple shuttle bearing the one called Kint Dranlor broke through the clouds, and began its descent towards the surface of Lothal. It touched down, and its ramp extended; Hesper stood before it, expectantly.

Welcome to your new training thread, my apprentice. We are going to do a combination of RP and simple quasi-IC conversation; let's get started. Please post your most recent CS in this thread, make note of your current total Prestige count in your signature, and write a reply to the above RP. After you have done so, I will have a written task for you to complete.

Good luck!

Name: Kint Dranlor ( Gorzan)

Age: 37

Sex: Male

Species: Genetically modified hybrid Zabrak

Homeworld: New Dolla

Height: 7’5”

Occupation: soldier, commander, and sith battle commander

Appearance: well muscled, compact, scars mostly covered by his grey and black tattoos which cover his body. Horns sharpened to points. His frame is massive, due to genetic augmentation.

Almost always seen beneath his massive plated armor, this only serves to increase his intimidation, and is often outfitted with a series of massive deadly weaponry.

Armor: massive, black, and intimidating, the armor Kint wears on the battlefield is constructed of durasteel, and protects him from most harm.

Lightsaber:
True darksaber (not in use)
Standard lightsaber

MRP-4 Mandalorian Ripper

VSX-17 Verpine Shattergun

Melee weaponry:

a collection of cortosis throwing daggers/spikes, one cortosis combat knife, one vibroblade, and energized bolas. He also possesses a pole arm with an inbuilt lanvarok (not in use)

Explosives: several specialized smoke bombs and grenades, and chemical weapons.

Equipment: liquid cable launcher, datapad, 3 stimpacks, 1 medkit, condensed food and energy packets, elite custom comms gear, jet pack, plasma cutter. He also recently acquired a vial of mnggal-mngall.

Description of Abilities: as a deadly duelist and assassin, Gorzan prides himself most on his creativity and cunning, using unique solutions to solve his problems. He is vicious in combat, utilizing massive strength and speed, combined with skill. While he is deadly on the battlefield, he prefers to be either behind a tactical map or behind enemy lines in a stealth role.

His size also means he is far stronger than virtually any other being, aside from gen’dai or other such beings.

Personality: cunning and calculating, he considers himself the ultimate tactical force, leading his men to glory and victory time and again. While often prone to make taunt his opponents in combat, or make witty remarks, one way to know he is taking the battle seriously is if he goes silent, devoting himself purely to the combat at hand.

Bio: Kint Dranlor was born into a noble Zabrack family, who owned a moderate sized weapons and armor manufacturing business. They dealt in expensive, rare, exotic, and modified armor and weaponry, making a fortune very quickly. Kint was put in school at a young age, being trained and brought up in the way of all Zabrack nobles: the school was rough and competitive, and very combat oriented. Everyone there was expected to become an elite soldier and officer, able to lead the troops of his or her family. What the school was most famous for, however, was its no-holds-barred rating system. Students got ahead in any way they could. Cheating, whether in battle or in education, was something that was admired, if you could get away with it. But if you were caught, the consequences could be terrible. Labor, beatings, even expulsion if it was bad enough. Kint quickly rose to the top of his school class. He showed his intelligence, cunning, and wit throughout every class he took. He also was won the schools dueling competition, earning the war name "Gorzan," a name which would come into common use once he was of age. The dueling competition was an event in which any student could challenge him, with any weapons of their choice. He proved to be an excellent fighter with dulled blades, fists, stun blasters, and even Bo-staffs. Then at age 11, a Jedi emissary landed on the planet, looking for recruits in the war against the Sith. He witnessed Kint duel, and immediately had suspicions. When he tested Kint's blood for Midi-Chlorians, his suspicions were confirmed. He approached Kint's family, and asked them if he could train Kint in the Jedi ways. After a long conversation, Kint's parents agreed, but only if Kint's personal instructor, Doruus, could accompany him, and continue his traditional Zabrack education and combat training. Once on Coruscant, Kint quickly showed himself to be one of the strongest force users in the temple. He spent almost all of his time either studying or dueling, paying little attention to the social aspects of the temple. He had a great aptitude for using multiple lightsabers, and overpowering his opponents with fast efficient movements. However, he did find a friend in his fellow apprentice Kar-Den. Kar-Den was a Nautolan, and a very skilled duelist. Kar-Den was also one of the more popular of the trainees in the temple. He slowly managed to get Kint involved with the other students, until Kint gave in, and began to interact with the others. He found he enjoyed this social life more than that on his own planet, because of the trust that you could have. There was no backstabbing and cheating, and he could trust Kar-Den with his life. However, throughout this whole event, His studies with Doruus increased in intensity tenfold. He began integrating his force abilities into his Zabrack-style dueling, and he used the temple to res earch old combat arts that were not in use. He learned how to cloak, and more importantly, he learned of the Sith art of force lightning. Using the ancient texts, he quickly began teaching himself everything he could about it, slowly growing in power. Then, when he was 15, he learned that his parents had been killed by another Zabrack noble. In the court, they claimed that the Dranlor fortune was theirs, since Kint had left and become a Jedi. So, contrary to the Jedi Counsel's wishes, Kint returned to his home, and claimed his inheritance and family business. Then he challenged his parents killer to a duel. Kint killed him, proving his superiority, and by rights of the duel, he claimed their fortune and titles as well. But when he tried to go back to the Jedi, Kar-Den warned him that if he returned they would charge him with murder and insubordination, and that they were sending a team of Jedi to bring him back in. Kint ran, traveling in a specially outfitted cargo freighter, carrying only him and Doruus. the rest of the ship was filled with supplies, weaponry, armor, equipment, and money. He hired himself out as a bounty hunter, but he missed the learning and training that he had received in the Jedi Order, so he began searching for an alternative. He heard of the Masarian Mercenaries, lead by a legendary fighter by the name of Ire, and so flew to the planet the rumors were last heard on. Once he was there, he began his search. He was approached by a man claiming to work for Ire, and offering an apprenticeship to him. Kint accepted, and with that, he joined the Masarian Mercenaries.he quickly rose to the top, becoming aone of ire's top lieutenants, along with his fellow student Blaise. Much treachery occurred, with Blaise making multiple attempts on kint's life. Eventually, however, Blaise attempted to kill ire, planting a bomb on his ship. Ire survived, and returned to the planet. He ordered Blaise and Kint to duel, telling them that the winner would inherit the organization in all of its power. After a brief duel, Kint cut off her hand, and then her head. Ire died shortly thereafter, leaving Kint as the head of the organization. However, Kint quickly purged the group, sending most of them to the core worlds with instructions to just wait until they were needed, and to blend in and take jobs. Meanwhile, Kint continued to train up the elites of his organization to become expert warriors and assassins, and they quickly became an expert paramilitary group. Their first step was to begin secretly recruiting some of the young brilliant minds of the era, teaching them and training them to increase their knowledge. Their entire society was focused on developing military knowledge, technology, and skills. Then they began occupying uninhabitable planets, terraforming two of them into metal planets fully equipped for defense. On the other planets, they built underground colonies and cities, preparing much more space than necessary. They also began building small mining bases inside asteroid belts, and producing large amounts of material, gear, and weaponry in a very short time. Their goal was expansion, and if that required bloodshed, so be it. They continued to multiply in number, staying in the unknown regions, with Kint Dranlor as their head, and eventually revealed themselves to the galaxy, and more importantly the empire.
Making an impact in the empire, he was taken on by the emperor as an apprentice, and immediately set about building up military power and strategic plans.

Kint’s shuttle touched down on the surface of the landing pad, and he stood, rotating his chair away from the controls. Standing, he strode down the ramp towards Lady Hesper, tense with anticipation. He could hardly wait for his training to begin, and his fingers twitched with every step, eager to see what the future held.

Reaching the bottom of the ramp, he knelt. He did not look at the surroundings, he asked no questions, and he ignored his ship, leaving it with its ramp open and waiting. No, his focus was now entirely on Lady Hesper, and the training that she would soon set before him. “Hail, Lady Hesper. I am at your service, utterly and entirely. Speak your will for me, and it shall be done, my lady.”

"Hail, Lady Hesper," Kint Dranlor said, having dropped to a reverent knee before her. "I am at your service, utterly and entirely. Speak your will for me, and it shall be done, my Lady."

Clasping her hands behind her back, Hesper motioned with her head towards the white temple behind them. "Walk with me, to Temple Eventide." She turned and began walking back towards the temple, her bare feet padding softly through the tall grasses. "Tell me about yourself, Kint. What do you most desire? What do you most fear?" She glanced at him. "What made you want to walk the path of the Sith?"

For your written task, I'd like for you to recount what you feel to be the three most important lessons you learned under Emperor Dreadwar's tutelage. Please write one full paragraph for each lesson. I won't be putting a hard deadline on this task, but I do expect you to be punctual, and have it done within the next two weeks.

For your reply to the RP and for posting your CS, I am awarding you 1 Prestige. However, in addition to your above task, I would like for you to completely re-edit your CS, editing for clarity, punctuation, spelling, and format, and re-post it to this thread when you are done. Make it as immaculate and beautiful as you possibly can. I recall a long while ago you were tasked to speak with me and two other prominent Dark Lords about our auras of authority, the way we comport ourselves, and how that reflects on our reputation and our public image. We never did complete that interview, but I have some wisdom on the subject to share now. One of the ways a successful Dark Lord conducts theirself is through concise, articulate, and well-edited writing and communication.

I always put careful thought and effort into the way my writing is edited and formatted. Doing so belies a level of competence and dedication that speaks to the level of, well, professionalism that a high-ranking Sith in this group should have. Even if you're being jovial and using emojis, using polished language is a surefire way to earn respect. Moving forward, I'd like for you to really focus on stepping up just the quality of editing in only your forum posts.

Also, don't forget to put your Prestige count in your forum signature!

Now... I believe that is all, for the time being. Good luck on your tasks.

Kint rose, following Lady Hesper towards the temple. The planet was, indeed, quite beautiful. However, Kint’s eyes remained forward, on Lady Hesper. He was here to learn, not to marvel at exotic and unique planets. He paused, thinking for a few seconds, before speaking. He was not eager to make some kind of mistake when addressing a council member and one of the most lethal and powerful beings in the galaxy.

“My greatest desire is knowledge, so that I may gain and maintain power. My strongest fear is that of failure in my tasks, and more than that, passing into history in unimportance. I joined the Sith to sate my greatest desire and prevent my greatest fear. Through the path of the Sith, I am able to take what is rightfully mine; I am able to crush those inferior underfoot, while learning humbly at the feet of those more powerful. In the Sith empire, everyone has their place, determined by their strength. I know where I belong here. I know what I must do.”

Task:
The first task given to me by the Emperor was to determine the differences between Krayt’s empire and the empire under Palpatine. This task was designed to teach me to learn the importance in sith power structure, as well as how and why the empire we live in now was designed the way it was. Taking and contrasting these two former empires and examining their strengths and weaknesses enables one to learn from the past to improve the future.

The second task set to me by the emperor was that of learning how to build up an aura of respect, as well as how to treat superiors in difficult situations. This task was designed to teach me to improve my own communication abilities, as well as teaching me humility in the presence of the great masters and lords I was to learn from. It successfully demonstrated not only how to appear powerful, intimidating, and sith-like when on the forum, but reinforced the respect I had for my superiors.

The third and final task set for me by my master the Emperor was the infamous “learning to lose.” While not yet complete, its purpose is quite obvious, and even more effective: choose your battles. Every time one decides to become engaged in a confrontation, their influence is placed at risk, and they risk losing experience and true progress. Sometimes, losing in the short term, may lead to victory in the long term, and while it may be painful to endure in the short term, it is well worth it in the long term. Any true and cunning sith would know that long term benefits are well worth short term suffering.

Bio: Born upon the planet Cerea, Kint learned from a young age what hardship was. Life was hard for everyone; it was simply the way things were. His father was a wealthy nobleman, who made his fortune producing and selling exotic weaponry, but this status did not protect Kint from the vicious traditions of the planet.

Every child was forced into dueling pits to be trained in combat from the youngest years of childhood. In and Out of the ring, any method that could be used to get ahead was seen as legitimate. There were few laws, and if one could get around them, they were to be applauded, not stopped. This built a strong population, and Kint was amongst the strongest. Making a name for himself from an early age, he achieved the title of Potens year after year, a prefix to indicate the best duelist in their class.

At the age of 12 he found himself drafted into the jedi academy on a nearby republic world after a jedi witnessed him fight and saw the force potential within him. However, it was not long before he abandoned this temple; they sought to hide away the very rage and cunning that had brought him success in the first place. And so, he fled back to his home planet, only to find his mother dead, slain by another noble. Enraged, Kint slew both the noble and his father for failing to protect her, before burying their remains and taking the family fortune and products to form a hunters guild known as the Masarian mercenaries.

These elite soldiers served as his personal team for years, pulling off jobs others would have thought impossible, fighting sith, jedi, cultists, monks, demons, and ghosts. Eventually, he encountered the hidden sith empire, and his path was changed forever. stealing the body and identity of a Gen’dai apprentice through a mind trap, he gained the great emperor himself’s attention, and became his apprentice.

He rose through the ranks rapidly; too rapidly in fact. His still-young age and his pride swiftly got to him, and while he gained a seat on the dark council, and took by force a great sith house to call his own, he made enemies, and did not follow the decorum laid down by the empire. In a confrontation with the empress, he was condemned to death, and executed by the emperor with a flick of his hand.

But that was not the end for Kint Dranlor. No. The emperor did not wish him dead, but rather sent him into a pre-prepared clone body, to become his apprentice once more with a new face, and now going by his own name, rather than a stolen one. Now, he serves the emperor as a scalpel, enacting his will upon the empire, gaining power and influenced, and ever so slowly, rising through the ranks.
