The Blaster's Path

In the sweltering jungle of ancient Raider's Cove on the planet Rishi, a cantina nearly as old as piracy itself was nestled. It has passed through the hands of many owners, many crews, many gangs; it has been burned down and rebuilt, remodeled and retrofitted. But two things have remained constant over the millennia for this cantina. It has always served the galaxy's most crooked, and it has always been called The Blaster's Path.

IC: Pirate Queen Jephego Rose
The Blaster's Path

With a dramatic whoosh, the doors to the newly-renovated cantina called the Blaster's Path slid open, and with utmost pageantry, the illustrious Ruler of the Underworld, Zabrak Pirate Queen Jephego Rose sauntered in. She was draped in an ostentatious cloak embroidered with aurodium, and her arms were held wide to the cantina's occupants, who all sat at the glossy-topped bistro tables and felt-topped gambling tables around the establishment, sipping on fine liquor and enjoying games of sabacc in eclectic, plush armchairs.

The Blaster's Path had just recently had its grand re-opening, under the new management of the Golden Rose Syndicate, and evidence of the raucous party was still visible. Streamers hung from only some of the doorways, and empty bottles were clustered at the very far end of the expansive bar, waiting for some barstaff to whisk them away. The room itself was spacious and decorated with potted leafy plants, with a raised stage in one corner and raised booths with warm yellow pendant lights set in along the walls, each in its own little alcove; the bartop was lit, and the shelves of spirits behind it were crystalline and lighted from above and below. The walls were a jungle green so deep they were almost black, and the high ceiling boasted a holographic projection of the swirling galaxy that twisted and spun dreamily, casting the entire cantina in an ethereal glow. All throughout the cantina, rhythmic music pulsated, just quiet enough to speak over.

Snapping her fingers, Jephego pointed with both hands at one of the many gold-plated serving droids. "Droid!" she called. "I'm so karkin' thirsty. Bring your Queen a drink!" With a drink on the way, Jephego grabbed a chair at a sabacc table and threw herself into it, kicking her long legs over one of its arms. She rapped her knuckles on the soft tabletop. "Deal me in."

Cantina Rules
  1. This is an entirely in-character (IC) thread. Newbies welcome!
  2. If you have questions about how to interact here, make an out-of-character post (type "OOC:" then your inquiry). We are happy to help you.
  3. Don't be an asshole, and treat higher-ranking Underworld members with respect. But don't let camaraderie fall by the wayside! We're not the Sith-- no need to be so stodgy all the time.
  4. The serving droids will pour you any drink you desire, at any time.
  5. No barfights! Check your weapons at the door, and keep your appendages to yourself; if a challenge is made, take it outside. (Make a new thread for it!)

Nakamura had heard of a new cantina opening in the local area. Upon entering it, he was pleased with the amenities it pprovided. Coming from a luxurious life on the top part of Coruscant, this was almost welcoming to his sense of life style.

Finding that it was under control of the Golden Rose Syndicate had meant that he will have to be cautious of his actions. Keeping all of his weapons hidden, he took no motion to appear aggressive in any nature, but simply walking to the bar and ordering a Bespin Fizz. The droid had confirmed his order and began to make it right away.

It took a minute for the drink to arrive, but he was delighted with the taste of the drink. Bringing his memories back to home as he sipped on it and watched the environment around him. The time to relax was now, enjoying the music and the drink. Screenshot_20200103-012841_Gallery.jpg

A dull thud on the doors outside preceded their opening. A muffled, loud voice came through the thick walls. "Whaddaya mean weapons ain't allowed?" … "Restricted!?" … "Karkin' fierfek sleemo… Turd, stay here an' hold my cannon! " ... "I don't wanna hear it! It's not like yer gonna be drinkin', yer a droid! I'll be back fer ya when I'm done!"

The doors slid open and Lem ducked through the threshold, eyeing the revelry and taking in the sweet scent of spilled alcohol. He spotted Jephego at the sabbac table and was tempted to flag her down, but he needed a strong drink first. He elbowed his way up to the bar and in a show of toxic masculinity, barked an order at the service droid. "Droid! I need a Correlian whiskey. On the rocks. Don't forget the kriffin' rocks!" He took the highball that was handed to him, and proceeded to gulp it down unceremoniously in one swallow, chewing on the chilled soapstone that had rested at the bottom of the glass. "Another!" he shouted through the gargled gravel in his mouth as he slammed the glass down. The second drink, he took in his hand and sought out a chair that would fit his massive frame. He found a booth and made himself comfortable, glowering at any who were brave enough to give him a side-eyed glance.

Nakamura chuckled at the astonishment that Lem had made for his entrance. Taking a sip of his Bespin Fizz, he stood up and waltzes on over the Lem.

"Such a grand entrance there. Run of misfortune recently?"

Nakamura smiles as he holds his drink in his hand. All in attempts for some small talk.

"Allow me to buy you another Correlian Whiskey." He pauses for a moment as he plays the entrance in his head again. "On the rocks." Nakamura smiles at his gesture to Lem.

Lem downed the drink he had taken to the booth and smiled a broad, toothy smile at the human that approached. "I wouldn't call it misfortune," he garbled, bits of crumbled soapstone cascading from his mouth and bouncing onto the table. "After all, I'm sittin' here with ten pretty fingers, an' some stranger is offerin' me a free drink!" The feeorin beckoned the human to sit opposite him in the booth. "Join me friend, an' tell me," he offered when the serving droid had brought him another round, "what're we drinkin' to today?"

Nakamura takes a seat across from Lem. Watching the large Feeorin receive his second drink. Looking down at his finished Bespin Fizz.

"Well I must do admit that I do not have the stomach for the stronger drinks as you do."

Nakamura takes a look at the service droid. Thinking of his next drink. The Bespin Fizz was new to him, but it was not his personal favorite.

"It looks like I am going to have a Correlian Wine. I do hope they have it in stock."

"Make it two," Lem butted in. "On me. Correlian's ain't known fer their wine, but it'll do in a pinch." He waved the droid away. When it returned with two glasses, he raised one in a toast to Nakamura. "To the Scoundrel's Way! Let yer creds be steady and yer work be quick!" He smiled and took a quick swig of the dry wine.

IC: Pirate Queen Jephego Rose

Jephego's game of sabacc was not going well-- she never was a gambler, really. Never had the talent for keeping a straight face when she knew she was being fucked. Or the talent for knowing when to quit. Slapping her hand of cards down and folding out of the game, she snatched her almost-empty second glass of black koja-rum and stood, the spherical ice in her glass clattering and rattling. "You all karking suck at this game," she berated the table of card-players, half in an attempt at saving what's left of her own hurt feelings. Sniffing indignantly, she flourished her cape and sauntered away from the sabacc tables in the middle of the room.

At the bar, she saw a hulking, familiar blue figure-- Lem the pirate. It looked to Jephego that he was either chewing out or befriending a small human man beside him. She grinned, creeping up behind the duo and slapping a hand on Lem's hulking shoulder. "Hey-hey, look what the gundark dragged in!"

A spray of wine erupted from Lem's cup as Jephego surprised him. He laughed heartily as he wiped the crimson liquid from his facial tendrils. "Jephego!" he greeted boisterously while scooting to offer her a seat in the booth. "What's a low-down scallywag like you doin' skulkin' around in a place like this? The Jephego Rose I know would be dancin' across the bar makin' friends with her choice of drink an' revelry." He grinned lasciviously and lowered his voice. "Er maybe I'm just imaginin' the dancin' bit fer my own amusement."

IC: Nakamura

Nakamura lifted up his drink to toast with Lem. "To the Scoundrels way." Nakamura took a sip of his wine when Jephego came on over and surprised Lem. He nearly chuckled enough that his wine almost came spitting out of his mouth.

He kept his drink at bay with a smile on his face, thinking it is good to have some company amongst others. He swallowed the wine down with pleasure and looked towards Jephego. "Please join us for a drink."

Jephego laughed uproariously as Lemmy spat his mouthful of wine in surprise. He greeted her loudly, and she gave his great shoulder another, more friendly, pat.

Jephego returned the smile, flashing gold and pearl teeth that glinted in the light of the lit bartop. She ran her tongue across her teeth. Winking, she said, "If you can imagine it, I've done it." She slapped a hand on the countertop, then snapped at the serving droid behind the bar, wordlessly ordering herself a drink.

"Please, join us for a drink," the other man at the bar said-- the shortish one with dark hair.

Jephego wedged herself between Lemmy and the other, then hoisted herself up to sit on top of the bar, kicking her lanky legs. "Don't mind if I do," she said, scrunching her nose and taking the rum mixed drink from the droid she'd ordered from. "Tell me your name. I don't think I've seen you in the Blaster's Path before."

IC: Danik

Rishi. Danik wasn't too familiar with it. He'd never been here before but it seemed to be a good place to lie low. The last year had been spent on the run being hunted down by members of his former gang. Figuring they wouldn't find him here he landed the "Banshee" nearby and made his way to the Cantina. The Blaster's Path was under control of the Golden Rose Syndicate so caution was needed to lie low.

Checking his visible weapons at the door he headed inside a took a quick glance around. Music playing and games of sabacc going. The Chiss felt at home for the first time in a while. Heading to the bar he took a seat while waving down the droid bartender.

"Spiced rum. Straight." He said. After a moment the droid poured a rock glass full of the drink. Taking a sip to ease his nerves, Danik drew his cigarra case from the pocket of his jacket and lit one. The Chiss took a long drag as he relaxed for a bit to the music in the background.

IC: Pirate Queen Jephego Rose
Jephego'd grown bored with Lemmy and the other guy, the cagey one who hadn't bothered to tell her his name-- but at least someone new had just shown up. Giving her left leg a good kick and crossing it over her right, she lifted her new glass of koja-rum high towards the newest cantina patron, a sharp-looking Chiss smoking a cigarra. "Oi!" she called. "Welcome to the Blaster's Path!"

As Danik exhaled the smoke from his cigarra, he took another sip of his rum. Down the bar a ways he heard a voice call out, welcoming him to the Cantina. Looking down to the bunch he saw the rowdy Feeorian and an unassuming looking human sipping a glass of wine. Sitting on the bar was the source of the voice, a Zabrak woman with a raised glass of rum.

Raising his a glass some he nodded politely and replied, "Glad to be here, ma'am." He followed with slugging back the rest of his rum before having the droid refill it. Taking one last drag from his cigarra, the Chiss stubbed it out and put another to settle his nerves.
