Three blaster shots rang out, illuminating the dark room with a mix of red and green lights, which quickly disappeared with a flash of white light and sparks. The soft crumpling of a limp body collapsing to the floor followed after. But it wasn’t the one at whom the blasters were being shot.

“Dammit! Where is he?” Asked one of the goons.

“I don’t know! I can’t see him.” Responded another goon, frantically.

There was a brief silence before another barrage of blaster bolts went off. This time, it was four shots, all red. The red light softly illuminated the room, revealing a barely visible silhouette in front of them, briefly growing in visibility exponentially as the blaster bolts exploded against the back wall, creating a sort of backlit effect on the silhouette before them.

“There he is!” Shouted the first goon, as they both opened fire once more.

The bolts lit the room, but the silhouette was gone. The goons stopped firing, taking a few cautionary steps forward, hoping they’d gotten him with their last barrage. They didn’t. A fact they wouldn’t realize until his blade cut both of their throats simultaneously, and their bodies dropped to the floor, gagging and gurgling in their own blood.

Loharr leaned down, wiping the blood off the blades before depositing them back into his belt. His mind was empty of sympathy or care, a cold blooded killer. He turned around, opening the door that stood between himself and his target.

Opening with a hiss, the door revealed the secrets of the room beyond for Loharr, who stepped in, plainly hearing the whimpers of someone behind the desk. Preparing to strike the final blow, he pulled a knife from his belt, ready to lunge and kill.

Then, in a moment that he had truly not anticipated, the target jumped up from behind the desk, blaster pistol in hand. Reacting quickly, Loharr stepped to the right, throwing the knife off to the left of the target, as a bright, red blaster bolt burst forth from the barrel of the blaster.

As the blaster bolt shot past his head, Loharr reached out through the Force, grabbing the careening knife, and pulling it back towards the target. A split second later, there was a squelching noise, followed by a wheezing groan, as the knife embedded itself in the target's back, and he fell to the floor.

After confirming the target was officially dead, Loharr retrieved his knife, wiping the blood from its blade, and returning it to his belt. He made his way through the compound once more, backtracking his original path, which quickly brought him to the front entrance, where his speeder bike was parked.

Getting on the bike, Loharr punched the accelerator, heading home to Mosa Town. Garang was an interesting enough city, but too much for his tastes at the moment. As he rode across the surface of Dantooine, Loharr let his mind wander. His travel times were a lot shorter now, as he acquired a new speeder bike not too long, one that had a higher top speed than the junkers he used to steal. A trip that used to take him half a day, now only took a couple hours tops. So by the time he reached home, the sun was rising.

He made his way to the cantina, where Odsalna paid him for the job, and he retreated to the inn, where he now had a semi-permanent room, and fell asleep. He had been awake for the last several days hunting his target down, and finally getting some sleep was glorious.

Upon waking up, Loharr grabbed his weapons and headed out to the cantina. In the cantina, he ordered a bowl of stew, and began to eat, when a helmeted stranger sat down across from him in his booth. He didn’t recognize the style of helmet, nor did he recognize the stranger.

“Get out of my booth.” Loharr said, taking a spoonful of stew.

“I think not, Loharr.” The stranger responded, causing Lohar to cease the consumption of his food.

“Who are you?” Loharr asked, slowly gripping a knife on his belt.

“Someone who has been wanting to meet you for the better part of 3 years.” The stranger said, “Though, the purpose of this meeting is strictly business.”

Loharr relaxed a bit, but kept his hand on his knife.

“What sort of business?” The young assassin inquired.

“You are a fellow Bounty Hunter, and I am in need of assistance.” He said, “I currently have a job to take out a local pirate. A Weequayan woman named Kol Stakta. She is quite the ruthless hag, drags people behind her caravan after raids. From what I’ve been told, this kind of target is right up your alley.”

“Killing a Weequay?” Loharr said, a little loudly, catching Odsalna’s attention. “Sounds grand.”

Odsalna let out a nervous chuckle as Loharr and the stranger stood up. Loharr paid for his stew and followed the stranger out of the cantina. The two jumped into a speeder that the stranger seemed to be in possession of, and went off on their way.

“You never said your name, by the way.” Loharr told the stranger.

“Nero Threnn.” The stranger said, “Mandalorian, sharpshooter, lady killer.”

“I find that last one to be….”

“Amazing?”

“Inconsequential to our job.” Loharr said flatly.

“Fair enough.” Nero said, as the two ceased all conversation for a bit.

After about an hour of travelling deep into the Khoonda Plains, Nero cut the accelerator, letting the speeder slow to a halt. After a bit of confusion, Nero explained the plan to Loharr, who was not at all happy about the arrangement. The Mandalorian scurried off to the distance, blaster rifle over his shoulders, leaving Loharr alone by the speeder, which he shot several holes into the engine, creating a small pillar of black smoke.

“That bastard only needed some bait….” Loharr said to himself, tossing a knife up. It flipped twice, before landing back into his palm by the handle. “And like an idiot… I volunteered myself. Dammit! If I knew he was going to do this, I never would have agreed.”

Loharr threw the knife into the dirt, letting out a sigh of exasperation. Though, before too long, Loharr would be remiss to admit that the strangers’ plan actually worked. He saw in the distance a few small silhouettes on the horizon, as the sound of approaching speeders got slowly louder and louder.

“Here we go…” he said to himself again, walking out to stare down the incoming speeders.

He spotted 4 speeders. 3 bikes and 1 transport. Looked full… or modified. He couldn’t tell, nor did he care. He waited until just the right moment, before jumping off to the side, throwing a knife into the chest of one of the speeder pilots. The instant the pilot fell off, his bike careened out of control, crashing into the plains with an explosion, and around him, blaster fire began to erupt around him.

His confidence in his initial suspicions was well placed, as scavengers don’t typically roll up on wreckage in such numbers. Logically, it had to be pirates, and he was right. He looked around, looking for the target of the job. There were only a couple Weequayan’s, all on the remaining speeder bikes. The transport seemed full of humans or other aliens.

Then, from the confusing cloud of blaster fire that he was dodging and avoiding, several yellow bolts ripped through the air, colliding with the back of one of the speeder bikes, forcing said bike to blow its propulsion system, likely killing its pilot in the process. As Loharr stayed behind the speeder that he and Nero drove here, as he wasn’t armed with any blasters. Luckily for him, that soon changed, as he looked over, and saw the blaster from the first pirate that he killed was near him. He pulled it over with the Force so that he could at least defend himself.

Then, just as he was about to pop up and fire a few shots at the transport, two oblong shapes dropped from the sky. Loharr’s gaze followed them as they landed upon the ground. They were grenades.

“You idiot!” Loharr shouted, standing up shouting at Nero, who he saw was still standing about 30 meters away.

“What?” Nero called back, as the grenades went off.

Two large fireballs emerged from the grenades, creating two plumes of black smoke. The fire stuck to the tall grass and began to spread. This introduced a new problem. As the Pirates saw the explosions from the two incendiary grenades, they saw that they were probably a little underpowered.

The transport moved to act as a sort of barricade as the last Weequayan, who Loharr could only assume was Kol Stakta, sped up considerably as she turned to come about. Loharr raised the measly blaster he had picked up and began to fire at the transport. Several of the shots managed to strike some of the pirates dumb enough to pop out too far.

Before long, he found himself next to Nero again, who seemed to have moved up after the grenades went off.

“Well… that didn’t go as planned.” Nero said, chuckling.

“You think?!” Loharr shouted at the Mandalorian.

“How was I supposed to know that was going to happen?”

“You threw FIRE grenades into a field of GRASS!” Loharr roared, popping out from behind cover to fire a few more shots.

“Fair point….” Nero said, taking a few blind shots. “Next time… stun grenades.”

As Loharr popped up to take another shot, he took notice that Stakta was finally speeding back towards them, but they couldn’t risk taking their attention off of the transport. They kept shooting. Some shots made solid contact, exploding into sparks upon the hull of the transport or embedded themselves into the corpses of the pirates umb enough to pop out. Some shots ricocheted off the broadsides, disappearing into the horizons around them.

Then, when the intensity of incoming firepower seemed to reduce significantly, both Loharr and Nero both popped up, firing a barrage of shots at the transport. As they did this, Stakta zoomed past them.

They both fired off one more shot on the transport and ducked back down, leaning against their own disabled speeder. Then, both of them looking up, saw two blaster bolts return from overhead, a red and yellow one, headed straight for the targets’ speeder bike.

To both of their disbeliefs, the speeder bike promptly experienced, let’s say… a sudden and violent shut down, as it exploded, throwing the pirate from its seat and through the air. Then there was silence.

Sweet, blissful silence. That couldn’t be good.

Loharr peeked over the disabled speeder, looking for any threats, only to find there were none. The transport speeder had run away. Letting Nero know the transport was gone, they both made their way over to where the body of the target was.

“This her?” Loharr asked, as Nero knelt down to inspect the warm corpse.

Several seconds later, he responded.

“Yep, this is her.” Nero said, “You weren’t too bad out there.”

“Shut up and let’s go.” Loharr said, making his way around the fires that were still burning from his companions’ incendiary devices. “Because you destroyed our ride, now we have to walk back.”

“Apologies.” Nero said, as he started to follow the young assassin.

After walking for almost a full day, Loharr and Nero finally returned to the Mosa Town Cantina, where Odsalna was ready for Loharr, glass of water and a bowl of stew. Loharr, being fed up with just about everything at this point, glowers at Odsalna, pointing to his booth. Odsalna, seeing the mood the assassin was in, decided it would be best to not test the limits of his patience.

Nero started to walk over to the booth to sit down, when Loharr stopped him by pulling on his armor.

“This is for almost getting me killed.” He said, swiftly pulling out a knife and stabbing the Mandalorian in the thigh.

Nero roared out in pain as he collapsed to the floor, gripping his leg. The entire population of the cantinas patrons were now silent, watching a Mandalorian loudly writhing in pain as the one who stabbed him casually strolled over to his booth. Nero tried to remove the blade from his leg, but it would not budge. The weapon got lodged in his femur and refused to move.

“Any particular reason why you stabbed that one?” Odsalna asked, leaning onto the booth chair.

“Not particularly.” Loharr responded, “I’m just annoyed.”

Fun dynamic between those two! Should we expect more adventures with Nero and Loharr? 👀
