Inside Star Wars: The High Republic: Meet the Jedi Knights and Masters

The recently announced comic series "The High Republic" set centuries before The Phantom Menace.

What are you looking forward to in this upcoming series? What would you like to see delved into? What will the state of the galaxy look like? And most importantly how will the Sith play into this era. We all know according to TPM the Sith have been thought to be extinct during this time. We know this not to be true, but how will it play out? Will there be another threat that is present or emerges?

This is the teaser they give to elude to a new threat in the Galaxy. The Nihl, or 'space Vikings' is the only other descriptor they give for that.

I like that they will be adding be characters we haven't seen before as well as new worlds. I'm looking forward to seeing how they go about crafting a new era and how it feels.

Exploring and expanding the species, characters, and worlds within the SW galaxy is what is best about new works as it always builds to what we know.

"Space vikings"? hmmm... I have always thought it would be fun to explore a very savage, crude, society... that uses technology but is also very primal and clan oriented. Could be interesting if they go this route.

I've been meaning to get more into this new wave of Star Wars publications... Is this "The High Republic" worth getting into, or should I wait?

I am not sure, they are pushing a lot of resources into this one. I for one have always loved many of the comic stories across a wide range of the EU. Though is is almost a full time job in of itself to keep up with them.

I've heard almost nothing but resoundingly positive reviews of the High Republic material, so I'd say yes! And from the snippets of comics I've seen floating around, I'm also enjoying it. I have two of the novels in my (admittedly very tall) stack of books to read; Into the Dark by Claudia Grey and Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule. I'm looking forward to getting my nose in them here pretty soon.
