Whilst Master Soss was performing his duties, patrolling his designated sector, he had received a request from the Jedi Council. There had been a disturbance in the Force, and he was the closest to investigate, and so he did. This was six days ago, and he was on the trail. So many innocents had been slaughtered, but it was only the last massacre that he was able to identify the leader of the group. It was a Sith, seemingly a rogue group of them, but Sith all the same. After witnessing the aftermath, from what felt like a firsthand view, Master Soss placed the lost necklace into a pouch. He was already searching for them, it would only be right to return what they lost once they were safely apprehended, right?

He followed the path set before him, following closer and closer as he chased after his prey. He finally came across one of them as they were torturing a young Wookiee pup. A twinge of anger and hate, crossed over him when he witnessed this before he suppressed it and addressed the trash of a person. “Let them go!”

In response the Sith raised the pup with the Force choking it, as he activated his crimson lightsaber. Rustling of leaves identified twelve more enemies, all igniting their lightsabers as they all revealed themselves, laughing menacingly. To highlight how much they didn’t care for the Jedi before them, the original Sith ran the pup through with his lightsaber, looking Master Soss in the eye as he said, “No.”

The shock of seeing the life fade from the pup’s eyes as he gave out a muffled cry of pain was insignificant to the other shock he felt through the Force. It was as if thousands of voices cried out in fear before being snuffed out, many of them that he felt he knew personally. The Jedi were being systematically exterminated. His yellow lightsabers ignited. “There isss no contemplation, there isss only duty!” He hissed, rushing forward at the initial Sith.

Knocking the Sith’s lightsaber to the side, he ran his other blade through him before spinning and beheading the man. His anger and rage being focused into his movements. The enemy didn’t know how to react. This wasn’t the actions of a Jedi, these were the actions of a predator amongst the Force.

Another of the Sith was ripped forward grasping at his throat only to be run through as well. Master Soss licked his lips as he finally felt free. Then he was gone, the Sith had no idea where he went. The next thing that they knew another of them was now on fire as the one beside him had his head rolling on the ground.

When he reappeared again he was within the trees, but it was already too late. The remaining seven Sith began to feel fear overtake them. Maybe this monster would let them live if they showed they were on it’s side. And so they began to fight each other, but none of them were able to make the killing stroke. No that privilege was his alone, and he took pleasure in it. They had to pay for what they did to that pup. They had to suffer for what they did to his Order. This was his duty. He must protect others from evil, and they were evil. Unknowingly the lightsaber he was using to kill each and everyone of them began to take an orange hue, darker and darker with every kill.

As he ended the last one’s life, he looked them dead in the eye as the life faded from theirs, and dropped them. “There isss no contemplation, there isss only duty.” It was only then did he realize what happened. “What have I done?” He questioned himself as he witnessed the carnage he unleashed upon them all. “I am no better than them. But I ssshould be.”

Deciding he needed to spend time to meditate on this, possibly a lifetime for the evil that he’d done, he found a clearing. It had been only a few hours to him as he let out tears of remorse. It should have been him that died, not the rest of the Jedi Order, not the young Wookiee pup, just him, but in actuality a month had gone by.

He heard a chirping coming from his bag. Weird, the only thing that would do that is his holocomm and as far as he knew, there was no one left to call him. There it came again, that chirping from his bag. He opened and removed the holocomm. He was nervous about what would happen when he answered. Was it the Sith that killed all the others trying to track him and others down? Let them come, he had nothing left to live for, and if he could take as many of them with him as he could to protect the galaxy, just a little more, that was all the better. However what he found when he answered was not live feed but a recorded message from Master Kast. There were Jedi left, they were regrouping on Tython, he had a reason to live once more. His Duty was resurrected. And so he began his trip to the Temple on Tython once more.
