Duel (Closed RP) A Blind Flight - Duel between Lady Traya and Darth Skyllan

It wasn't often that Skyllan went so close to a planet that, culturally was opposed to their existence. Though they didn't consider themself a 'man' they were aware, painfully so sometimes, that others viewed them as such. Likewise, the Hapan appreciated beauty, while s'kytri were typically considered to be beautiful... Skyllan had long lost their lusture, gone grey instead of the beautiful blue that they had once been. To say nothing of the 'customisation' that they had done to their body, that the prideful species would likely consider a deformity. Lady Traya, the world's new Queen Mother, might have made some additions since then, but given Darth Lisan donned a objectively attractive female form, Skyllan didn't think it had changed too much. That being said, they were not here for a social function.

They were here for a fight.

Not a vicious one though, this wasn't a kill or be killed fight - though that wouldn't affect their commitment to the bout - it wouldbe a fight with the Queen Mother of the planet that would most likely try to kill Skyllan if they went down to it. Lady Traya, the former Lady Illium. She'd been the ruler of Dathomir when they had first met, but her domain had expanded. They had always respected the sorcereress, they had made that clear a number of times during their acquaintance, but now she had proposed a duel. Darth Skyllan couldn't let such a request from someone they reespected go unaswered. If Lady Traya wanted a duel, then the sith master would give it to them. It would be interesting to see if it would be in person, or via one of her oft-employed phantoms. But yes, this was why they were on the moon.

Hapes was a beautiful planet, it's moons - or at least this one - didn't have the same sort of verdure the planet was known for, but it had developed a breathable atmosphere. It's orbit was a tad ecleptic, Skyllan wondered if it had developed its own atmosphere by dipping into the planet's slightly, not unlike Dxun and Onderon. Admitedly though, they were uncertain. This moon mimicked some of the more mountainous reigons of Hapes, more basic organisms like moss and fungi were growing, obviously bacteria too. It hadn't developed more complex life yet, but it certainly had the capacity to do so given that Skyllan could stand unaided upon the planet's surface. Higher up though, that was more difficult. It seemed the Winged Sith wouldn't be flying too high today.

Darth Skyllan gathered their power, concentrating and drawing upon the strength of their Sceptre. Then they raised the weapon, bringing it's butt striking back down on the surface of the moon. For nearly 50 meters in every direction from where the hilt of the weapon struck, the ground flattened. Creating a circular arena like area. Nothing compared to when Skyllan and Lord Xarxes had brought down a mountain together, but a relatively impressive little feat nonetheless. If it wasn't for wielding a force battery, the sith might have struggled. The s'kytri's own ship lay just behind a ridge nearly 300 meters away from their current location. They hadn't wanted the Magaerra to be too close to the location of the fight.

The flattening of the surface had also served a second purpose, a rippling through the Force to alert the Lady to their location. They had sent a message as to where and when in general terms, but due to the lack of mapping of the moon - as far as they were aware - this was a tad more to the point. Skyllan had a strong feeling Lady Traya knew already, she had been percieving things through the Force for far longer than they had after all, using the Force for sight was likely as natural to her as flying was to the s'kytri. Now they were just waiting for the Lady in question, and whoever from down below felt the need to watch the Queen Mother's fight to avoid anything going awry. Not that Skyllan was a threat to Lady Traya, for one reason or another, but there was a degree of exposure when it comes to a duel.

'Dark,' they really couldn't stop thinking, 'I suppose this is what happens when you get a fight that you've been after for a long time.' Lady Traya was a true arcane sorcereress, of a high caliber. 'One way or another, this will be a day to remember.' Skyllan adjusted grip on their staff, their lightweight alchemized armor a dull black on their body. It wasn't the grandest gear, nor was it the most impressive. But it was theirs, and it was good for any occasion. There weren't any funky gadgets involved. Just Skyllan's power, and the power they had torn from the galaxy to meld with it. It, along with its sith master, were Hungry. It would be delicious to show their hunger to someone connected to the Lord of Hunger from millenia past.

IC: Darth Traya
Location: Unnamed Hapan moon

From the pristine mountains of Hapes, a profane thing rose from a secret chamber deep within the true Fountain Palace. Traya urged her husband to double check the calculations to ensure she would make the short flight from the surface of Hapes to the unnamed moon while the sunlight streaming over the ridge of mountains was at its brightest, masking the presence of her coral skipper from sight long enough to break the atmosphere undetected.

She relished in the wildness of the completely organic ship; it didn’t require sight to fly properly, and she wasn’t prone to violent hyperspace rapture when she traveled via Vong technology. It wasn’t the only piece of Vong culture she’d adopted, either. It would have been far easier for her to simply have a shuttle bear her to the agreed upon location, but she always chose self reliance when possible.

Upon landing the slender coral formed ship on the mountainous moon Traya cast her senses outward; at this point she was able to sense the vibrations of half the Hapes Consortium; and if she trained her senses hard enough could even feel distant Dathomir. Feeling the life ebbing within the vibrant echo of many planets stirred a hunger deep within the pit of her soul. She didn’t yet possess the might to consume a planet; but the lust to do so gnawed away at her thoughts. How long would extinguishing all life upon a planet satiate hunger? What planet or moon would she one day mark for possible death?

Her thoughts strayed, but when she pulled her focus back toward the primitive moon she felt the radiant vibration of Master Skyllan. Their aura glimmered a steely grey, greatly changed from her first encounter with them, yet such a drastic shift in ones aura meant their true power emerged.

The Miraluka replaced her dramatic sun disk crown upon her brow, and slithered out of the slender organic craft, and using her eldritch limbs rose to a height nearing 7 feet high. Only her husband and the Sith knew of her default appearance; a frail, eyeless being that writhed upon living serpentine appendages. It had not always been like this; once she’d merely been a simple humanoid Miraluka; yet she’d delved for knowledge she couldn’t yet possess; and the might of the Darkness turned her into this being. Her very sanity warped and told her the serpentine appendages were her true legs; even if she possessed memories in which this was false.

Skyllan had created an arena of flattened ground, and Traya gave an approving nod as she shuffled inside. She wore gleaming songsteel armor on her upper body; practical enough in case of a lightsaber or blade; but while she’d heard rumors of Skyllan’s wonderful feats she didn’t know truly what to expect. From a quiver at her back she drew a single gleaming arrow, over two feet in length, yet she didn’t hold it primed for preemptive blow, rather it rested in her skeletal hands more akin to how a shaman might hold a wand.

“Master Skyllan, I thank you for granting my request. This art is one I so detest... the rigors of battle. It’s common knowledge I prefer the halls of the Academy to the battlefield; yet I cannot allow myself to fall into apathy. We are both of the regal House of Hesper; thus it’s fitting to duel one another and learn our strengths and weaknesses.” she spoke; her voice alone sounded unaffected by the ravages of her hunger.

Name/Title: Birth: Lilium Kyrie
Adopted: Aurelia Illium
Sith Title: Darth Traya III
Nicknames/Aliases: Aurelia Chume, the Saarai -Kaar, The Dark Sun
Age: 25

Sex: Female
Species: Miraluka
Orientation (optional): Bi-curious
Homeworld: Katarr via birth. Dathomir via adoption.
Occupation: Queen Mother, Chume and Ereneda of Hapes, Queen of Dathomir
Height: 5’7
Weight: 100lb
Physical Description: Upon arrival among the Sith, Aurelia was a beautiful, stunning young Miraluka who often refused to cover her naturally missing eyes. When venturing off planet from Dathomir the rarity of her species was fetishized, thus she found herself an enslaved dancer in the Red District of Nar Shaddaa. Now reborn as Darth Traya the Third; when dropping all illusion, she is a twisted and scarred creature.
When using her illusions she wears the visage of a fair Hapan Queen; with a golden sun disk shaped crown covering half her face. Her white blonde hair is thick, wavy and flowing down to the middle of her back; her body appears more curvaceous and femaine, however at one point she began to wear the illusions of serpents writhing about her from rather than human legs. The overuse of this horrific illusion caused her mind to twist and believe that these serpentine appendages are her true limbs. Only rarely does she change this projection, now believing she must assume illusions of human legs.
Her true form is ravaged by the Dark Magicks she channels, and by her trial and tribulations in becoming a Sith of her standing. Her arms are covered in lightning shaped scars via Darth Solus. Her eyesockets are burned completely black; horrific voids to belhold unmasked, a cosmetic fate that she shares with another ancient Miraluka of legend. A swath of black rot bisects her face; her right arm has shriveled to blacked bone due to use of Dark Shear, and as such is replaced with a basic cybernetic. She is thin and emaciated, often shunning food in favor of Force energies and freshly plucked eyes. She resembles a slowly decaying mummy rather than a living human; and knows her time within this fragile body is limited.

Clothing: While in her queenly garb Aurelia Chume tends to wear stunning white or lavender silks, trimmed with gold. Her face is often veiled in the manner of Hapan style. Her crown is a dramatic pointed head piece of rainbow gems and songsteel.
When in a more casual setting she will wear either tattered black cloaks and dresses, either of black or the deep reds traditional to Dathomir.
Blackwing and diamond golden wedding band.

Weapons: Phobos; a full grown amphistaff. Demios; a smaller amphistaff.
Yew Longbow; etched with Sith Runes.

Songsteel alchemised arrow, typically used as a catalyst to project an illusion of thousands of arrows, which can minutely drain their victims of their Force energy if they connect.

One standard Lightsaber with a rainbow gem.
One Rapier style saber, grey blade, with Blackwing crystal
Lightbow
Arrows, 20 handcrafted from Dathomirian wood.
30 forged of beskar. Tips poisoned with Amphistaff venom, or cortosis edged, or simply filed to a razor sharp point to pierce armor.
10 slugs that ignited into plasma bolts.
Equipment: Songsteel Armor forged by Darth Skyllan, its graceful form appeared before her in a dream. Very lithe and lightweight, face covered by a beaded veil, an ethereal pale veil flows from the back of the helm.

Talisman of Counterspell
Mask once belonging to Darth Nihilus; not his legendary death mask however.
Holocron of Darth Nihilus; but it cannot communicate with her directly nor teach her additional power. It says but a single phrase.
Vehicles:
Flag Ship : “A-vek Iiliumnauk” Yuuzhan Vong Capital ship, capable of producing fleets of coral skippers.
“Star Home” Hapan Space Station

Pets (if applicable): Shipsbane, a dreaded gizka.
Languages: Basic, Miralukese, Dathomirian, Hapan, Sith and Ancient Sith
Combat Skills (brief summary of general combat strengths, including non-Force-based skills not reflected in Skills statistics section): Weak in traditional melee combat, but strong in archery and the use of amphistaffs. Strong in the use of Mind Control, Illusions and Force Drain.

Other Strengths (brief summary of general strengths, including non-Force-based strengths not reflected in Skills statistics section): A strong connection to animals and nature; as was her Dathomirian upbringing. This worship of nature has led her to form alliances with the Vong. Traya is also a passionate educator, and has trained Sith greater than herself; in keeping with her namesake.
Flaws (brief summary of general weaknesses, including non-Force-based weaknesses not reflected in Skills statistics section): Detests the rigors of combat, unskilled in lightsaber battle. She suffers from a crippling inferiority complex and has been known to self sabotage in moments of extreme duress. Unskilled with machinery and would rather see it destroyed than to allow its proliferation. High functioning Auspergers syndrome, possibly bi-polar. Unapologetic cannibal.
Alignment (Lawful/Neutral/Chaotic, Good/Neutral/Evil): Lawful Evil
Personality: In keeping with her species she is generally calm, collected and approachable but her passions run deep. She holds high ambitions, but will wait patiently for the moment to strike for a higher calling. When slighted her anger can be swift and merciless and typically manifests as clawing out and consuming the eyes from those that dare cross her. She’s curious and generally prefers the company of animals rather than a crowd of people; yet when the need is there she is capable of inspiring masses. Her anger can manifest quite sadistically; she will gladly jump at the chance to execute traitors slowly and painfully. She takes the words of Darth Traya the first with a religious fervor.

Fears: Death, but only a meaningless Death. Given the chance she would gladly take immortality. Even as she yearns for more life energy she also fears hunger slowly consumed and transforming her. Unlike the first Traya; she doesn’t loathe the Force; rather she craves it.
Likes: Animals. Nature. Training and Academics. Mead. Spice. Consuming Energy.
Dislikes: Intense Melee Duels. Anzats. Petty squabbles. Machinery. Technology. Cruelty to gizka.
Habits: Habitual collector of animals and seeker of knowledge. Collector of eyes, and aspiring to add more impaled corpses to her adorne stronghold on Dathomir.
Relationships/Love Interests (if applicable): Dhe Ta Dalv, husband. I-Ron Butterfly-Traya (adopted Shard)
Companions (optional; may include brief summaries of Companion characters, links to full Character Sheets posted in the Campaign Guide, or both): Dhe Ta’ Dalv - former Hapan guard.
Shipsbane - her loyal gizka

Masters (if applicable): Empress Viscretus
Apprentices (if applicable): Master Anklyn, Lady Noxia, Metus Aurelius, Spade, Volk

Reputation: In a short amount of time Traya became known for her ambition and work ethic, and dedication to education of future generations of Sith. She can be both reclusive and seemingly omnipresent. She made progressive changes within the Sith Academy leading to more highly trained Siths. She can be both nihilistic and shrewd as well as pleasant and generous. Traya is largely rather reclusive outside her duties, and timid in large social groups, and prefers the pursuit of knowledge and training rather than social prowess, but despite her eyeless physical form she is able to peer into the depths of many.

Biography:
There is no truth in the Force. There is no great revelation. There is only you.” - Darth Traya

“One met the dark with learning. But in the end, learned knowledge was wanting. The world began without knowledge, and without knowledge will it end.Dost not this ring clear and true?
Fear not, the dark, my friend.
And let the feast begin.” - Dark Souls III

On the ravaged planet of Kataar, after a devastating crash landing on the dead planet, twins were born to an inbred Miraluka family. Hastily they hired an ill equipped ship for passage off planet. Swiftly afterward the ship was hijacked by Lorell raiders, the parents were slaughtered and the twin infants sold as slaves. One, Lilium….to the witches of Dathomir. The other, Umaya, to moisture farmers on Lah’mu.
Lilium was adopted by the barren clan mother of the Singing Mountain; and renamed Aurelia Illium. Aurelia adapted remarkably well to her life as a witch of Dathomir; her naturally missing eyes were worshipped among the witches, and life was relatively calm and peaceful for Aurelia until the age of 8 when a total solar eclipse gripped the planet. While blind to the physical sights of the phenomenon; she was not blind to the dramatic shifts of energy; to the moment when the darkness and shadow overpowered the day. Aurelia became transfixed; obsessed with finding some means in which the ethereal darkness could return.
She departed and journeyed to the ruins of the Infinity gateway; where she believed she would find the key to bringing back the Darkness. There she found a relic that seemed to be placed there just for her sight; perhaps ejected from the gate before its destruction and hidden to all that possessed mere mortal eyes. It was a bone white mask.
Upon touching the mask she briefly saw the world as many sentiants do. Saw as it truly is, full of color, shadow and light. The encounter improved her vision, allowing her to see the Force more definitively and the auras of others with more color. At this moment a parasitic entity invaded her in an brutal act of symbolic rape and attached to her mind although it’s presence was unknown until she joined the Sith. She later learned it was in fact a lingering fragment of the spirit of Darth Nihilus that had attached to her. The mask itself wasn’t the genuine article, merely a copy with a sliver of his essence meant to infect another. Meant to infect her.

The clans Mother however noticed the infection and darkness within her and cast from the clan despite her young age. She found solace and care with the Nightsisters that embraced darkness.

At 16 she decided her destiny lay beyond the planet and stowed away on a transport ship. She found the galaxy to be horrifically disappointing, filthy, infested with mindless vermin. All was grey and translucent, nothing glowed as it did on Dathomir. She believed herself blessed that she possesses no eyes in which to look upon the vermin of the galaxy. When she became desperate for credit in the streets of Nar Shadda she wandered to the red sector where she was encouraged to audition as a cantina dancer. The rarity of her species and natural Nightsister grace made her a mesmerizing dancer, soon she drew customers. She earned contracts, and credits and when she took customers to her bed she earned more than enough credit. She spent a few years allowing herself to be blinded in the haze of drink, spice, lust and credit with the occasional kill to satisfy her true lust. However when a truly luminous being came to watch her dance she heard the first echos of her true calling. The male glowed with a burning crimson alignment, so magnificent it filled her vision. She invited him to her private chambers where he proudly proclaimed he was Sith. When their encounter was over the man drew an energy blade that glowed like him, and swung it in a blow meant to kill her. While she had never sensed such a blade she was used to clients attacking out of sheer cruelty ,but she had to call upon the magics within her to dodge the glowing blade. The Force as she’d heard it called outside Dathomir. She had killed with the Force before but this Sith didn’t fall easily, she cast aside all hesitation and clawed into the Siths mind and drove him mad with illusions she’d been gifted with. He took his own life with his glowing blade. Aurelia kept the lightsaber and raided the body for any clues as to where she might find more of these Sith.

She booked passage off Nar Shadda and searched for more Sith.
Shortly after enrolling in the Academy on Korriban...she found herself on a ship headed to Dathomir, headed back home. Only this time she had direct orders to conquer it from the Dread Emperor himself; in fact she swore an unbreakable vow via the Crown of Verity to serve him. With the help of several other Sith and a pirate named Jephego; she slaughtered the Singing Mountain clan and turned her encompassing gaze upon the White Throne of Hapes; for to rule Dathomir was to rule it’s sister, Hapes. Slowly she wore down the Royal Guard, and slipped within the fractures and confronted Amelia Chume in a final battle. They fought viciously, but in the end the Chume fell victim to the attack of her pet gizka, grasping an enchanted knife in its mouth. The slash delivered to the Chume’s ankles was enough to allow Aurelia to overpower her and slaughter her, and thus take her mantle as Aurelia Chume.
Soon after her reign began the first of many attempts was made on her life by a Hapan assassin; but she was able to break his mind and instead tempt him into swearing a vow of loyalty to her. She later accepted his request for marriage.
In shadow, she served the Sith Empire and after much trial, loss and betrayal she took the mantle of Darth Traya; an inherited title that had been missing from the galaxy for eons. As the echoes of the Force wounds rendered so long ago still echo in the galaxy, she knew she had to become the new bearer of the title of Darth Traya.

The Ashen Artificer felt Darth Traya before they saw her. Those who had served on the Council had always had a strength about them that had cowed certain urges in Skyllan. Like a predator bowing down to the apex of the food chain. This particular sith lady, hadn't been seen to fight much. Not to the s'kytri's knowledge. Chaos, she was one of the best recruiters the sith had. She paid an attention to the lesser ranks that had helped them grow. That being said, they had always felt a desire from her. She wasn't a standard combat sorcerer, but she was Hungry, like the rancors on her homeworld of Dathomir. Her Hunger was remniscient of some ancient archaic being, and frankly - as an acolyte and apprentice - Skyllan had always felt like food. That being said, they were not an acolyte or apprentice anymore.

Darth Skyllan had a hunger in them too, they had fed on every manner of creature, sentients, non-sentients, on their blood and their flesh, that of the dark and the light. Power though, that had become their favourite meal. Their hunger was more of a mutilated monstrous thign though, not unlike themself. They had carved away their reproductive organs, lost the pigmentation of their now heavily patchy skin, covered in scars all over. The Winged Sith was like if someone took an angel and made them wrong. They had a hunger too, but it wasn't ancient like hers, there wasn't any archiac primal dignity to it at all, it was just dirty and dark. More like a sithspawn rather than the legendary Darth Nihilus. Darth Skyllan, their power and their behaviour... they were more like a tool to be wielded. A sentient one without a clear wielder for the time being, but a tool - or weapon - nonetheless.

As the Lady drew close and said her piece, the s'kytri bowed. "I am honoured you thought of me as a sparring partner. While I am a scholar first, my studies include the art of combat. Duelling with Lord Kain was a particularly interesting lesson. As for your sentiment regarding our shared loyalties, sharing our strengths and weaknesses makes sense given the circumstances." Skyllan's Sceptre spun in their grip so the tip pointed down, the hilt visible peaking over their shoulder as their wings spread in readiness. They wore a smile on their face as they spoke this next bit: "I see you're employing the armor I crafted for you. I hope it serves you well in this battle." Skyllan closed their eyes slightly and tilted their head from one side to the other.

As Darth Skyllan settled, and the preamble had been suitably dispensed, their eyes and expression sharpened slightly. They had never worn this appearence to face Darth Traya before, it was one that promised violent intent. They were prepared and willing to attack the Sith Lady. There wasn't reluctance in their face at all, though admitedly while there was violent intent, there was no killing intent. A difference that wasn't easy to tell for most people, but a sith should be able to. It was now of course that Skyllan remembered that Lady Traya was effectively blind in many ways.

The Skyborn Sorcerer raised the arm wielding the sceptre so it was perpendicular to the side of their body, the weapon itself sticking out from their body, parallel to the ground. "If you are ready, Lady Traya." They stated easily, if they wanted to talk about their strenghts and weaknesses in more detail, then it would be worth showing them to each other first.

"I see you're employing the armor I crafted for you. I hope it serves you well in this battle." Skyllan said as they readied for battle. To this she gave a soft nod of approval, even if she only wore part of the armor the lovely craftsman ship served her well.

She noted the aura about their face changed into what might have been a battle hunger; she was blind to the features themselves but could feel the dramatic change. In response Traya’s snake-like appendages writhed and opened their fanged mouths in direct threat, and a prevailing cold radiated around her. It wasn’t not strong enough to freeze the ground, it merely served to lend her the illusion of danger, and veiled threat.

“I am ready.” She answered with a smile on her thin bloodless lips, her breath clouding into vapor. She studied the sound of their armor, found the glowing natural glowing points of armor plating as well as joints, muscle and bone that were vulnerable on most humanoid beings. Especially vulnerable where the great shapes of their wings.

Drawing from to cold deep within her breast, Traya casts out her free hand and attempts to pull the body heat from the s’ykri’s wings and center mass, hoping to cause hypothermic shock. It might even be possible for ice crystals to erupt from their flesh if her attack landed successfully.

---

Skyllan took on a vicious smile as her snakes began to bare their fangs at the s'kytri. Cold began to seep into the ground around the sith lady, not on the scale of most frozen worlds the winged sith had ventured across, but a clear sign of intent nonetheless. The moment Lady Traya's hand raised, the sith master vanished.

Darth Skyllan reappeared instantaneously at Lady Traya's side, as her frosty attack hitting where the fiendish angel had been. The sceptre that had been held ready in parallel was suddenly whipped across, aiming to smash into the sith lady's back. Dropping a lightsaber hilt as they did so. In the same motion their wings, which had been spread ready, beat.

The s'kytri shot upwards, rushing maybe 15 meters into the sky. The hilt that had been dropped as the sith left the ground, was caught by a shadowy hand that grew out from where it's Master's shadow had been moments before. Igniting the weapon as it tried to slice through the serpents that made up the sith lady's lower body.

Lady Traya was a formidable opponent, and she had always been someone worthy of Skyllan's respect. Even when they had first joined the empire as their weaker self. It would be foolish, and potentially deadly, for them to bring anything but their best game to this fight. That was why they were preemptively barricading their mind.

IC: Darth Traya
Location: Unnamed Hapan Moon

A vibration echoed through Darth Traya’s peculiar form of sight; the aura of the s’kyri suddenly vanished, manifesting again beside her, poised to strike with agonizing intention. It proved to be a faint warning from
the all to near future; but a call to act nonetheless. She’d sensed this trendy power on other battlefields; yet had little care for it nor had she taken up the mantle of learning it. The power to twist the very fabric of space time and teleport. The instant she had to act was enough to grasp her rainbow gem lightsaber with a telekinetic hold and snap it on in defense. A gleaming multi-colored plasma blade snapped to life and whirled around her body, in preparation to deflect any incoming blows she believed a teleporting opponent would have ready.

Once they manifested again the s’kyri rushed upward before Traya had any hope of attempting to land a melee blow. Meanwhile the shadows began to stir; manifesting into a clawed hand that gripped a lightsaber, the blade ignited in an attempt to slash one of her serpents. She pulled her limbs tighter to her body, and brought the unusual flashing saber around to parry the disembodied hand clutching the lightsaber.

“These are taxing abilities you wield Master Skyllan. Why not come down here on the ground, and face me like a Sith?” She seethed, and attempted to seize the previous Shatterpoints she’d felt in their wings in a brutal telekinetic grasp, particularly at their wing joints. If this hold was successful it might be possible to break vital bones or crush the delicate muscles needed for flight.

The malevolent wraith-like hand encomposing her vibrational sight, she refused to neglect. From her withered hand a blazed an arc of twisted dark violet energy, hoping to strike the wraith and drain it of its very substance. The Force itself.
