~2/7~

Urizen had thrown up a spray of mud, a smart counter to his own cloak. But because of the small amount on the ground, what actually hit him was more of a fine spray than a glob. Which was just fine with him as it would actually add somewhat to the camouflage.

His opponent then fired off what amounted to a mild electric current, at him. Also not a problem as the rubber soles of his boots prevented him from being grounded. The current would pass through with no more than an intense tingling sensation.

Regavar felt his tonfa-saber being subtly nudged as Urizen tried to snatch it away. Now that was annoying! He allowed Urizen the momentary belief that his attacks had struck true by not bothering to defend against them.

Taking two quick steps toward Urizen, pulling his tonfa from his belt as he moved and grasping it's mid-grip in his left, he dropped the cloak, appearing inside Urizen's gaurd. Snapping off a straight left, attempting to hit the taller man in the neck with the butt of the tonfa. He then twisted his hips, pulled the left back, and aimed an open-palmed right at Urizen's diaphragm, attempting to drive the air from his lungs and to grasp as many layers of clothing as possible.

Regavar would then try to pull Urizen toward himself while simultaneously firing off a left elbow hoping to hit the side of his head with the upper grip portion of the tonfa. Stepping into the elbow strike, his left foot now behind Urizen, he would then release his grip with the right hand, hopefully having knocked his opponent off balance enough that he would then stumble to the ground face first.

Each strike of the three hit combo, nudged slightly with a touch of the force.

Regavar's eyes never left his opponent, studying him. His breathing slow, deep and steady. His thoughts, elemental in nature.

Following up on his sweeping kick Zan’roc revered back to a low crouch against the ground. Bringing his hand up in a quick motion he sent created a bright light hoping to disorient his foe. While his foe was hopefully disoriented Zan’roc quickly launched another attack igniting his saber as he somersaulted over his opponent aiming a blow at the back of his adversaries torso. While unleashing a torrent of lightning from his unencumbered hand aimed at Matyrs feet.

All through his attack Zan’roc watched Matyr closely hoping to clean any kind of counter attack his foe might launch. He remained calm letting the force flow through him his focus on the battle at hand. His mind creating possible battle strategies to counter whatever his opponent might throw at him.

Zan'roc had ducked low as soon as Matyr went on for the attack and with that, a change of movements. The ground crunched under Zan'roc's pivoting foot as it bore his weight. The air was crisp and fresh with the scent of moisture and sullied landscape. Zan'roc was attempting to knock him from his feet before repositioning back into a low crouch. The acolyte is agile, but his strategy needed work. He had wasted movements and attacks that seemed to poke at Matyr's defenses rather than pin him down.

Matyr used precise footwork to avoid the sweep while moving closer to Zan'roc, driving a knee up at Zan'roc's chin. An attempt at throwing off his balance before a hand was thrust at Matyr. Opening his mind to the Force Matyr felt his opponent building up the Dark Side, so when his foe went to raise a hand, Matyr instantly lifted his saber to cleave the hand from its owner.

Afterwards Zan'roc somersaulted into the air above Matyr, igniting his saber along the way and spinning as he landed. A slash came at Matyr, but the slash swept right through the apparition that stood there. Was it truly Matyr? What power would allow a novice Sith to become a ghost? While Zan'roc flipped in the air Matyr let out some of the Darkness called upon to leave a ghostly apparition in his stead. Dashing under the Acolyte only to partially fade away, disengaging his saber and standing behind his opponent when the attempt to strike him down was made. His Housemate was trapped between two identical phantoms.

"You're in our way." The voice echoed through the courtyard. The two began circling him, taunting him. "Young Zan'roc. Foolish Zan'roc. How do you think you will win?" His words would try to prey on the subconscious mind, as it was clouded with thoughts. It was Matyr's intention to pull on any doubt within the acolyte's mind.

Move 2/7

The Shadow Guard had the initiative and pressed the attack driving the spear forward at the apprentice's torso. It was a basic attack but one that held intense precision and force. The apprentice would have to react. The Shadow Guard utilizing its training had already put up a mental wall of resistance to help with countering any force abilities the Apprentice would try to use against him. It was still unknown the level of this ones abilities, and how skilled he was in the force. The Shadow Guard was ready nonetheless and as his spear thrust came to a literal point at the end of its attack, with a quick rotating of his wrist and forearms he move the spear into a diagonal upward slash. The razor sharp end of it slashed in a quick follow up attack.

Move 2/7

As he circled the Shadow Guard he knew the Guard could see him still. That was the point. Bril wanted to gauge the guards reaction. The Shadow Guard followed his movements as he expected. The Guard was unfazed as the Twi'lek inspected the weak points in their armor. Weak points were typical to all armor.

'Lets see here. Typical plate armor. Weak points are the joints where the armor doesn't cover as well as the neck between the helmet and cuirass,' he thought to himself. When the Shadow Guard slammed the Kimmel of his spear into the ground, Bril was almost surprised it took this long. The Twi'lek grinned as the Guard took a stance.

As the Guard lunged the spear forward Bril was ready for it. He pivoted and took a step back allowing the spear to miss him by the tips of his lekku. When the Guard swung upwards he leaned back to avoid the spear again. As he did this he drew his violet lightsaber into his right hand and ignited it. As the violet blade erupted to life Bril stepped toward the Shadow Guard and swung across. He aimed his lightsaber at the right side of the Guards neck, at the weak point between his helmet and cuirass.

Round 2/7

The snow falling was cold like Sirrus' own meditation chamber; this helped him maintain his composure.

Perfect! His opponent was going full at him; while gripping his saber with thumb and forefinger he mildly blocked the Force push by slightly opening his grip on his saber so that he could release a weak Force Telekinesis (push) to permit him to be moved backwards sliding with the snow; Sirrus maintained his balance keeping his saber up and at the ready.

His opponent continued his spins appearing to come right at the middle where Sirrus already was guarded; but then, Loharr jumped into the air and came down towards Sirrus from above. Sirrus raised his Saber in his right hand gripped tightly but not to tight, still with his left hand up and back, he blocked and flicked his wrist and arm to parry his opponent to the right, the crackle of the sabers making contact was deafening. Sirrus stepped to the left, with his opponents energy coming straight down at his head, his parry would continue his opponent's energy towards the ground; and with that Sirrus unleashed from his left hand his charged burst of Force Lightning aimed at where his opponent's back would be when he ultimately landed. This onslaught would potentially leave his opponent stunned and not facing him.

Sirrus, making sure to maintain his balance and stance with a low guard (Makashi low) to prepare for what his opponent may be able to recover; and setting up his next move by continuing to stepping to the left, rotating around his opponent, and always with left hand up and back.

Madora gritting her teeth from missing his back, curves her body in a crescent motion avoiding his upward slash but not fast enough. Feeling his horizontal saber cut across her mid section searing her skin, she stumbles back gripping at her stomach feeling the blood start to flow over her fingers. Staring at him she slowly looks down seeing her own blood on her fingers.. A rumble of giggles and laughs come from her chest exploding out of her mouth, grinning ear to ear as she brings two of her bloody fingers up to her cheek in a slashing motion marking two lines across her face with her own blood. Decorating herself.
Thinking to herself - "He takes my blood so I shall take his".
Grasping her spear as she presses the trigger to part them turning one into two, she starts to swing them in an alternating motion creating a shield looking circle. Walking towards him ready to create some real damage that he's never seen before, create pain that he's never felt before. Prepared to tear him apart limb from limb, smiling and laughing. Walking faster as she swings each saber in opposite directions in a slashing motion, one for his knees and one for his chest. Ready for him to block as she goes directly for his jugular.

Katagaris watched his upward swing fly through the air missing Madora, but he felt his horzontal swing connect. Not the crippling blow like he had hoped, but it was still a wound that would trouble her throughout the duel. Watching her own blood across her face he grinned.
"She's got spirit, but spirit can only get you so far."
" Aye she's certainly got plenty of that. This'll be a good gauge of your spirit, surpass her."

Taking his left saber and bringing it diagonally upward in an attempt to knock her two sabers together. Then bringing his sabers together in a scissoring motion to try to trap her blades between his. Katagaris's blades were at different points on Madora's then attempting to twist her blades out of her hands.

~Round 2 Feedback~

In our last feedback we covered movements and attacks, now lets go over what you should be doing in those attacks. From the looks of the second round I think only some of you incorporated the feedback of round one. I am still seeing far too much going on with attacks. Remember when you water down your attack too much, your opponent can use that against you to invalidate what you are throwing against them.

Part of writing is making it realistic, if you are a low level Apprentice (1-3) your powers are going to correspond with your abilities of a low level. You are not going to have the raw and strength power of Vader, you're not going to have the power of Sidious. For example a low level using force lightning will not be able to shoot lightning but for more than a quick burst and a focused stream. Meaning you are not going to be able to shoot lightning everywhere. If you do, your opponent should be able to immediately recognize that you are fighting above your pay grade/level and take advantage of it by calling you out. Your opponent could very easily point out that your attack was not focused or powerful owing directly to the fact that the attacked performed would be something that only a high level master could do and thus point out how weak or ineffective the attack would be - another example would be if you are flipping around like Yoda with every move as a level one - you are going to get tired and your opponent, if they are smart and attentive your opponent should cite that and take advantage in later rounds of the duel. Make it realistic - dueling is not always about ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK… it is about writing. You should certainly make efforts to attack and defend in each post and if your opponent attacks you - then you MUST make an effort to DEFEND that attack, otherwise you risk taking damage by not defending an attack. But this should not be only what your post is about - a post that simply has your attack or defense is boring - holds no passion and more than likely will NOT draw the reader in.

One of you wrote a very passionate post, that made all of the judges latch onto it, it had a unique fire to it and drew each of us in - but you messed up on the rules of the tournament and it cost you. Thus we observed that several of you are still struggling with posting in the correct format IE turn order or post format. Ironically costing you points that otherwise would have resulted in you winning the round. I cannot emphasize this enough “ATTENTION TO DETAIL” if you cannot pay attention to the rules how can we expect you to succeed and importantly REPRESENT your house and yourself properly throughout the EMPIRE.

During your process of writing, even with the smallest of posts try the following:

Make some notes of your opponents post - read it multiple times before you start writing (though you can make notes while reading through it.

After you have gathered your info - make an outline, even with a small post make an outline.

Write a draft, the re-read. Make changes and check for spelling and grammar mistakes.

Make changes to your draft and read it again.

Read it again.

By the way … read it again.

Make sure you have not forgotten anything. And remember once you make the post.. It is permanent, you cannot change it. So if you react to you opponent having attacked you from the right, when in fact your opponent attacked from your left, and you post it. Then you have potentially made a fatal mistake as you just put yourself out of position and your opponent can use that against you. THERE ARE NO EDITS!

Urizen had been thrown to the ground, and between the neck and diaphragm shots, should be having a hard time catching his breath. Regavar wasn't taking any chances with his opponent. In the back of his mind, he knew what was at stake here, and what it meant.

He aimed a heel stomp at Urizen's lower back, hoping to hit between the 4th and 5th lumbar vertebrae. Then he would drop into a roll, away from his opponent, igniting the tonfa and flipping it to a forward position, he slashed at the wrist holding the lightsaber as he moved, attempting to sever hand from arm.

Coming back to a standing defensive position, Regavar deactivated his tonfa, returning it to a defensive hold, taking hold of a sliver of the plasma as he did, enhancing it as much as he could, and shot a ball of fire at Urizen's face, hoping to temporarily blind him.

He would then gather the surrounding shadows and disappear into them, once again circling Urizen, moving away from what would be his last known position.

Never taking his eyes off Urizen and fully expecting some form of retaliation, he remained on gaurd, ready to defend himself, or pounce.

Keeping his breathing slow and steady, so as not to be heard, and to conserve oxygen. His thoughts stayed focused on the elements, and his mission.

Urizen showing signs of fatigued, dropped down on the floor landing on his right knee, hard ignoring pain the pain Urizen lashed out with left leg, Urizen thought as he did this “all I have is my determination” as he attempted the kick back with his left leg to add get some breathing room and hopefully knock him over.

As this was going on, Urizen moved his wrist and whole body out of the way in time by activating force TK, while using his other hand to use force drain on Regavar at least gaining some of his lost energy, while tiring out his opponent. After hopefully attempting and succeeding in draining his force, Urizen shot a few lightning bolts in the directions and places he would suspect Regevar would be hiding.

~Round 3\7~

Sirrus would need to be cunning; but ever cautious during this duel in order to maintain continuous effort towards victory. As his opponent may wane during a duel; he could as well. This could end shortly or be drawn out he thought to himself.

The air still cold with wind and snow, as his opponent, hopefully reeling from his last attack of Force Lightning, Sirrus knew that he could use the cold to continue his advantage. Sirrus moved towards and over where his opponent would be; quickly sheathing his lightsaber and hooking it to his sash; he would utilize both hands releasing the full power of the Sorcerer, one sapping his opponent's own life and force, the other concentrating and strengthening the might of the cold.

The combination of Force Drain and Force Cryokinesis could possibly send his opponent into a near state of coma; as was taught in so memorable a lesson to Sirrus by his own Master. While Sirrus continued the Force Drain of his opponent, he could feel the power feeding him; he slowly took three steps backwards and toward the right of his opponent; drawing himself up into a stronger stance and ceasing the Force Cryokinesis coming from his right hand, he reactivated his Lightsaber and maintained a low ready to either finish his opponent or be able to defend if necessary.

~Round 3 of 7~

As Loharr had come down, bringing his saber down upon Sirrus' head, his opponent had stepped to his left, Loharr's own right. As he landed, the ground beneath him crunched and thudded, and some even singed from his lightsaber, as the force behind Loharr's swing made it so that Loharr was unable to pull it back in time to stop it from hitting the ground.

From the corner of his eye, Loharr saw Sirrus' left hand shoot forward, so he attempted to jump forward, rolling away from the attack, but he failed. He was too slow and his leg suddenly tensed up. An electrical pain struck his right leg, so instead of rolling, he had merely jumped and the momentum made it so that Loharr slid on the ground, getting a few scrapes and cuts from small rocks in the dirt. As he slid, his saberstaff had gotten deactivated, and so the crimson glow of its blades ceased

Groaning and a little bit sore, Loharr turned over onto his back, only to see Sirrus standing over him, lightsaber clasped to his belt. His eyes widened in surprise.

Sirrus reached his hands forward and that's when Loharr felt it. He felt a pit in his stomach as his strength seemed to be drained from him. He felt the cold around him intensify, it was like no cold he had felt before. He exclaimed in discomfort before throwing up Force Defense to fend off the draining affect. As he did this, he kicked his legs up, with his left giving more strength, he rolled backwards, away from Sirrus. He had to put some distance between himself and his opponent, so he clambered to his feet, favoring his left leg. Doing this, he turned around to face his opponent, igniting one of the blades of his saberstaff.

With his saberstaff in his right hand, ready to either attack or defend, Loharr reached his left hand forward, grabbing the ground beneath his opponent attempting to make it quake, hoping to force his opponent to stumble and knock him off balance, though he could feel his ability wasn't as strong as it could be. How unfortunate.

~Round 3 of 7~

Though Matyr thought he was fast enough to cut the hands away and knee Zan'roc in the face, he was not. Able to step over the sweep Matyr saw the hand fly up all too quickly. A small yet bright flash erupted from Zan'roc's outstretched hand causing Matyr to double back and avoid the saber slash. Zan'roc was cunning in his actions driving Matyr to push and connect with his feral Darkness within. A shadow leaped out of him in its ghostly figure of the caster while Matyr stood behind regaining his sight and concealing his image to match its appearance. Using his opened mind to sense for his foe the apparition was sliced through and they began to pace around him. Matyr used the eyes of his astral projection to supplement his own.

"Young Zan'roc. Foolish Zan'roc. How do you think you will win?" Combining the use of Dun Moch with subtle trickery of the mind in attempts to dislodge Zan'roc's calm temperament. The wind gust across the courtyard whipping up rolling dust. Matyr's pants ripples in the low slung breeze, mold and rot wafting into his biomesh nose. Nostalgic scenery that he had no time to admire loomed around this heated battle. The eyes of Zan'roc held an untempered flame in stark contrast to Matyr's own black midnight eyes. Both full of raw energy.

The two bodies that circled Zan'roc were watched as Matyr worked himself away towards seclusion behind a broken wall missing its ceiling. He had released another shadow, but the strain heightened on him as a young apprentice to hold onto it all. He persevered through the intense pull of the Dark Side withholding his soul from being consumed. The two apparitions lunged at Zan'roc with snarling faces, claws reaching out. One went to choke him, charging at him, while the other kicked low following Zan'roc with a two punch combo. Matyr made no sound in his feral stalking. His hidden trait had been harnessed. Gwiila had taught him how to not only control it, but utilize it. The two blending into the same being reserved for combat.

It was natural to be in combat. Skill and wit set against each other. There is no better way to know what one is capable of and no quicker method of truly knowing a being. To fight was to lay it all out. Every guise, strategy and style lain bare. These two were not merely fighting for a title of immense honor ads privilege. They were getting to know each other in ways most don't. They were bonding through trial by combat and in it, both would become stronger.

~Round 3 of 7~

Zan’roc noticed his use of force blind had momentarily stunned his opponent. What he hadn’t counted on was the fact that it had caused his foe to get out of the way of the saber strike. Growling with frustration he harvested that his anger a cool and collected one but bubbling beneath the surface all the same.

"Young Zan'roc. Foolish Zan'roc. How do you think you will win?" As Zan’roc heard the words spoken by the more experienced apprentice his eyes narrowed. “As arrogant as always isn’t that right Matyr” Zan’roc said softly his words echoing around him. His iridescent blue eyes as cold as the snow flurries falling around them. “You think I would give up by this... chit chat” Zan’roc said disgust evident in his voice “Then you’ve sorely underestimated my desire”

Seeing the two shadows surrounding him Zan’roc snarled softly ‘so he wants to play with puppets huh’ Zan’roc thought as the shadows made their respective moves Zan’roc stood their as he watched one coming for his throat and the other going for his legs.

Weighing two options of evasion he went with the simplest route and the one that would require less energy. One He hope: would be enough to evade the attacks. He raised a force barrier in a sphere like shape around him.

Zan’roc knew that if the force barrier didn’t stop the attacks that he would be in a serious situation. Pushing the doubt out of his mind, his will resolved he waited. His eyes closed as if he was meditating, he put his faith in his other senses. The cold calm anger he had bottled up bolstering his resolve until it felt as strong as the toughest material known in the galaxy whatever that might’ve been. His mind was made up and he had no choice but to trust in his instincts.

As his violet saber swung for the Shadow Guard's neck Bril knew there was a chance it wouldn't work. The Guard could block it with just a bit of effort. Deciding to make things a bit more difficult for the Guard, the Twi'lek drew his cyan saber in his left hand and ignited it. Taking note of another weak point in the Guard's armor Bril slashed across.

He swung for the Shadow Guard's left hip. The goal was to land at least one hit either at the Guard's neck decapitating him or at the hip bisecting him. The Twi'lek grinned behind his mask. He wasn't gonna die here. He had too much to achieve. This Guard had to die.

Move 3/7

The shadow guard's thrust and slash was mitigated, the acolyte pivoting to avoid the attack. A counter by the acolyte as he stepped forward slashing with his saber across at the guard's neck. The guard recoiled back from his attack bringing the spear back perpendicular in a vertical hold, his hands spread out far enough that he was able to use the center mass of the spear, brought around in a vertical sweep to block the slash aimed at his neck. The introduction of a second saber and a quick follow up attack, prompted a just as quick response. The second saber came at a lower attack angle aimed at his hip. The guard twisted the butt end of the spear up while he began a twist, spinning away with in the same direction that the strike flowed using the momentum of it to try and drive the saber upward as it sliced through.

The acolytes strikes were fast, and the guard would need to recover quickly to prevent being exposed. The guard continued his spin and tried to put some distanced between the two of them while turning about to drop back into his stance.

~Round 3 Feedback~

I do not expect everyone to jump to an elite level of writing in a short time period, what I do expect is effort towards improvement. Based upon the last round I am questioning some of your efforts. Again simply mistakes, posting out of order, lazy writing “TK”, and lackluster descriptions to the point we contemplated not giving points to either player but we had to give it to somebody.

I still continue to see some players trying to do more than their skillset should and would allow. If I can reiterate the previous feedback statement… do not water down your posts with moves. Remember what level your character is and play accordingly, again if an opponent was smart they would easily recognize that you are doing too much, exhausting yourself and find a way to expose it in their counter writing.

Important note: Know your powers and what they can do. There ARE limitations to what powers can and cannot do. Be mindful of such, it has been noted that a few of you are trying to use powers for a purpose that it would not effectively allow or even allow all together. Creativity is one thing, doing something that you cannot do is another.

As you can see the feedback was a bit shorter than the two previous, mainly because those two feedbacks still hold true and should be revisited by ALL of you as a reference for this rounds feedback as well. If you take the time to go back and read, and use it to try and improve you will learn, if not you will die and dueling will not be something of a pleasant experience for you.

The upcoming Round 4 is setting up to be make or break for some of you. You have the knowledge and skill now to make some changes in your writing and approach given the last three rounds of feedback. However that is up to you, we only evolve when we recognize the areas that we need to improve upon. My inbox here is always open if you have questions.
