The first Star Wars film I remember seeing, is unobjectionably, Return of the Jedi. My earliest Star Wars memory, in fact, Darth Vader’s pyre scene, and that’s saying something, because I remember this BEFORE I watched any of the prequels.

And I was BORN the year the prequels were released, so that’s saying something.

But now that I’ve grown up and seen every single Star Wars show or film, I can positively say that one of my favorite films of all times, is RotJ.

Anyone else share RotJ as all time favorite film?

Interesting at the time you saw the finale, but to your point the pyre scene in ROTJ is a lasting image throughout all of the movies. Understandable that is would stick with you.

I was a senior in high school the year TPM came out... I do remember watching ANH first ... but the one that I had access too was the ESB. MY parents had copied ESB on VHS of of HBO at the time... (we are talking 1986-87...) which was really the only way you could watch movies... other than the theater as at the time movie rentals was still in its early years. I remember watching ESB over and over... it was not until my parents bought ROTJ on VHS years later that i saw the ending.

OK... Old guy here. I was taken to this new movie by my dad. Something called "Star Wars." Before "A New Hope. The original original. I was 9 years old at the time. That started my life-long love affair with the films. I dropped out several times. Mainly because the first three... er... second three? came out and then there was nothing. It was over, right?

At one point I read books. Yes, I read Splinter Of The Minds Eye. I swore to my elementary school friends that that was going to be the next movie. Even did a poster for my art class and got 2nd place in a competition.

Later on, TV networks would show the movies periodically. Usually around Thanksgiving or Christmas. I did a study on that for a Sociology class I was in. Five minutes of movie, five minutes of commercial. They doubled the length of the movie, folks!

Then the movies started up again. So did I. I got hooked again and read up on everything I could find. I got interested in the Sith then. I read the Darth Bane books. I read the New Jedi Order. I read a lot of them.

That's what's kept me involved so much since then. My kids will see me on my phone and say, "Are you Star Wars-ing again?" Yep. I am.

My love for SW has clearly rubbed off on my children as well. The full spectrum of available books, movies, shows provides a large amount of content to watch and participate in. Including the games. But we always go back to the Original Trilogy as this is where the story I think is the most pure and fun. All of the other movies and works across the years are great, but there is always something magical about the OT whenever you watch no matter how many times you watch.
