personally I prefer the PT over the ST, i admit im biased as I grew up with them and did'nt understand the hate. But now since the ST. More people have come to appreciate it more and has shown that it has less plot holes then ST.

There is definitely a lot of vitriol directed at the Prequel Trilogy. When you look at what the PT brought to SW, meaning the characters and expansion of the SW galaxy that we knew, then I think it gives a good perspective. It expanded a lot of what we knew about the galaxy and painted a completely different state of the galaxy than we were used to with the OT.

As a boy I watched the original trilogy with my father as my first Star Wars experience. I waited patiently for the sequel to air on television as my grandparents preferred that method over going to the movies. I was already into high fantasy, but this pushed me more into scifi fantasy. So my playtime changed from mideval combat to lightsabers.

I enjoyed all of the trilogies for what they are, even though I could pick at them some more than others. However specifically the prequels, showed me the journey taken that would end in the creation of Darth Vader. Not to mention the prophecy I hadn't previously known about. Taking all that into account the original trilogy of this epic saga made that much more sense. The perspective. That's my main focus. What light does this shed on other works? How does each work I've been watching, reading, or listening to connects smoothly?

AOTC was key in showing the transition of Anakin, the Tatooine sequences in particular and the deep emotional pain that he was going through.

Im posting this here as I guess the story starts with AOTC and ends before ANH.
should Ahsoka have died in that final duel with Vader ? I personally feel this would have really brought his arc full circle come ROTJ , maimed by Obi-Wan , lost padme , killed his apprentice , defeated Obi-Wan which brought him no respite or satisfaction. The haunting memories of
Every Jedi he killed etc

I have this terror of deep water, even when in a video game or movie, even if invincible, and I think it all started with Phantom Menace on the big screen in '99.
The opee sea killer left me scarred for life.

I think it very well could have given him an even more sinister appeal. However I do think though that Ahsoka was powerful and cunning enough to have survived, which she did. In the end I do not think it takes away from Vader's evil or tragic nature come the OT.

I have been rewatching thw Prequels of late, and while I adored them in my youth, I appreciate their operatic style. GL meant for the entire saga to be a space opera, which means amplified emotion, grandeur, and spectacle.

I believe Revenge of the Sith captures this best.

Revenge is honestly my favorite of them all (except for perhaps A New Hope?). Really quite a grand story, when you think about it. I do feel sometimes it's taken a bit too seriously.

Indeed, everyone wants a Nolanesque realist take these days. While I appreciate such realism, there should be room for less serious tales.

I have always been drawn to the TPM. ROTS brought so many things to a good conclusion, particularly if you had been reading many of the Clone Wars and novels leading up to it. Particularly Labyrinth of Evil.

ROTS has consistently been at the top of my list of all the SW films. I love all the action especially, but the best part is Anakin. Seeing him go from Jedi with dark tendencies to full on distrust for the Council, and then outright betrayal of the very Order that freed him from slavery not long ago. It's quite the journey.

It can be heartbreaking.
